Strokes of Genius Painting

I'd never hired a painter before, but my current home has some high walls and ceilings that I wasn't confident to tackle. I met Daniel at the Ottawa Home Show in January. He came round when it suited me best to discuss our plans and before leaving he offered some excellent suggestions (he has tons of experience) and a very reasonable quote. The guys were in the house for 3 days. They thoroughly prepped and sanded before applying 2 coats to everything. They even took photos showing how well they protected the floors and stairs while working on the ceilings. He used very good paint, but paint isn't cheap (even with the discount he can secure). I joked at the beginning that I didn't want the finsihed job to look like I'd done it, and it looks just brilliant! I don't usually say that about my painting skills :-)

Called SOG from the internet ,and Dan showed up on time with smiles and a hearty good morning,which set the tone of the job..We went over the job,negotiated a price and time,what colour and product we wanted to use and set a paint date.
As a tradesman my self and having painted since I was 14 when I was trained by my Uncle,a professional plasterer and painter,I was going to look at this job from start to finish..I had never called a painter before but decided to check out the prices..I was pleasantly pleased and Dan got the go ahead from my wife and I.So on the morning of the paint date the painters showed up right on time..very clean and professional looking and started in..Brian was the lead hand on the project and we were both very pleased and impressed with his manner,skills and organizational skills to say nothing of his painting ability,number one in our book.
Through out the project Brian was joined by Luke,Darren and Matt ,who installed two sets of bi.fold doors and painted them (Extra to contract).
We were treated more than fairly by Dan and all the crew and they worked steadily and took very few ,if any breaks ,except short lunch breaks.
They used drop sheets and were very careful through out.
We were very pleased and could recommend this company to anyone.
As a past business owner ,I know great employees and tradesmen and will hire them again for future work.

Called Daniel on a Tuesday, met for a quote on Thursday and Rob (the painter) started the next Tuesday. He was done by the time I arrived home on Wednesday. Beautiful job on 3 rooms, 2 stairwells and one hallway (kitchen, dining, living rooms), walls, ceilngs and trim. Great colour and crisp, clean lines. Strokes' price was the lowest of 3 quotes I obtained. One week from the first contact to completion. Excellent service and great work. Very pleased.

The owner of the company Daniel came to my house to discuss what I wanted painted. He assured me that I'd be completely satisfied with the work his guys would do especially the prep work. They did an amazing job on the first 2 rooms and I ended up getting most of the house painted. I did purchase 2 vouchers and I can't remember what I paid for the vouchers so the price above is an estimate of what I paid excluding the vouchers. Highly recommend Daniel and his team as they did an excellent job.

I was very pleased with the service I received from Strokes of Genius Painting. I hired them to do a stairwell and thought it would take the full day I paid for. To my delight not only did the painter have time to do 2 coats he also managed to paint my dinning room and foyer. The painter showed up on time and was very professional and meticulous in his work and clean up. I would definitely recommend them to family and friends.

I hired "Stroke of Genius" based on review on Homestars to paint a two bedroom condo prior to offering for sale. As has been mentioned in other reviews Daniel was professional. Painters arrived early on appointed day . Additional painters and cleaners were brought on to keep to schedule, which I appreciated. Work was done during a period of extreme cold and the painters pointed out problem areas to me and proposed solutions which were implemented in the original budget. I found everyone I dealt with to be very professional and considerate. I would recommend this firm.

This is THE painting company to call in Ottawa. After a bathroom reno we decided to keep the ball rolling and paint the upper hallway, staircase landing and living and dining room. Found Strokes of Genius at HomeStars and called owner Daniel. The rest of the story is pretty much perfection. Daniel came to our house the next day (a Thursday) and booked us for the next Monday. By the way, we had narrowed colour choice to a few options and Daniel was terrific in helping with the final choice - which turned out to be perfect. Amazingly, Daniel suggested he could have it done in a day. No waiting!

Our painters, Frank and John, arrived first thing Monday and got right to business. We walked through the job and they got to it. 9 hours later we arrived home to amazingly refreshed rooms. Frank and John had gone beyond our expectations - removing window mullions and painting them, sanding some rough spots in a door transom, and a host of details I would not have expected to be addressed. The painting was superb. They were neat, clean and incredibly courteous. They stuck with it for a few more hours till it was done. Based on previous experience with other painters, I expected this to be two or three days. They managed perfection in just one day - and at a very competitive price.

I would highly recommend Strokes of Genius to anyone in Ottawa looking for excellent, reliable, courteous and competitively priced painters.

We are very happy with the results of the work. The house looks very classy. Daniel was pleasant to deal with and very professional, and Adam and the rest of the crew did geat work and were very obliging. An issue with unexpected repairs that arose midway was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Daniel suggested embellishments which we really like. All in all, a very successful experience.

I was first drawn to Strokes of Genius from the "eco" side of Daniel's business (greenstrokes) as I was painting a LEED platinum condo. Daniel did offer a comprehensive green package beyond low VOC, but what I didn't expect was how excellent his colour advice would be! He suggested a dark colour for the white dominated bathroom, which was brilliant free design advice when I needed it. Finally, his service was what was the best part, he doesnt stop until youre happy. I then used his and his team for my 1893 house and his design advice came through again! Excellent work. I always recommend him, you will be happy!
