Closet's By Design

Reno in our kitchen and mud room . They did new storage in mud room, cabinets, closet, drawers , open storage.
Install took few hours , matched everything perfect , no rough patches, fit is great , levelled all , could not have had a better installation
They are a bit pricey even with discounts but I got what I paid for and very happy

Closets By Design - Barrie, made and installed this banquette (storage seating unit) in the fall of 2017. As part of this project, I ordered cushions, which were made to the same measurements as the seating. At the time I placed the cushions onto the seating, I discovered that the dimensions did not match the cushions. Upon measuring the seating, I discovered the actual dimensions did not match the dimensions on the drawing. Specifically:

Drawings indicated a total height of 20". Actual height is 20 3/4"

Drawings indicated a total depth of 20". Actual depth is 21"

Drawings indicated length of 72". Actual length of one side is only 68 3/4" which was 4 and 1/4" OFF!! The other side is 72 1/4"

Due to this Closets By Design (Barrie) error, I then had cushions that did not fit the seating and was extremely unsatisfied! My decorator sent an e-mail to ask for compensation for the extra cost of cushions.

The response I received from their Sales Manager, Brenda, was poor, irrelevant and dismissive: She wrote: "I have reviewed the file and there is no mention of "cushions" or dimensions for cushions. The cut listing department revised the benches to allow for the tops to function. Our drawings do state on the bottom right corner that "all measurements are approximate"

Brenda's comment about cushions makes no sense! She was fully aware that this was a storage SEATING unit and of course, I would have cushions made for it. Also, the length of one of the L-shaped benches was OFF 4 1/4 inches! Seriously, this is not an APPROXIMATE measurement! There was no mention of any compensation!

Also, I was not impressed with the installation which was scheduled for 2 separate visits. For the second visit, the installer was to come from 2:00 to 4:30 pm to complete the installation. I did not hear from the installer and had to call the office @ 4:15 pm to find out the installer's whereabouts. The installer finally showed up at my house @ 8:30 pm and knew that it was too late to complete the job and already too dark!

I did request a meeting with the owner of this Barrie company to discuss my experience with her company. Her name is Kristen and she did not even respond to my e-mail. Obviously she does not care!

I would not recommend this Barrie, Closets By Design, to any of my friends, family or work colleagues.

Closet dividers, shelving etc... installed in an 9 x 9 room.
Mitre cuts crude, overall the joining of the closet partitions did not look good.
From a distance it all looks good, again from a long distance away.
Wall moldings removed, never reinstalled
Contacted sales, they did nothing

We first had our walk in closet completed. We were so pleased we asked them to come back and design the other 2 bedroom closets and our front main closet. While they were here, they lowered a shelf and hanger in my master closet. Now all of the closets are perfect.

The designs were done quickly and professionally and all options were given and drawn up before we made our decision. The installer was incredible and always cleaned up and removed his shoes and respected our home while in it.
