Full Home Interior Renovation

Mark & his team did a wonderful full-house renovation for us last year (sorry I'm tardy with this!), and we are thrilled with our "new" home! Manor was great to work with, and even months later are still responding to fix-ups promptly and professionally. There are no hidden costs, the price was based solely on our personal choices (and we went very high-end). The quality of the work is excellent. The project went fairly smoothly, as material choices in most cases were selected in advance, and the crews weren't waiting on us for decisions. We trusted Mark completely to get the job done properly, and he didn't disappoint. We'll be using Manor again for our Deck project this summer.

Thanks Jen and Eric - you were great to work with ! A big part of a positive experience in a renovation is the attitude you go in to the project with...if you are grateful and happy for everything you have -things go well...if you are suspicious and picky about everything - things go differently.

Full Main Floor Reno

It was our understanding that we were hiring Manor to Project Manage our project and that the professional trades for whom we had received and approved quotations would carry out all the work. Unfortunately, the approach applied by Manor for most of the trades (paint, flooring, cabinets in particular) is to let the trade do the initial work but then have Manor employees or the PM himself (Mark) finish the work and/or deal with deficiencies/repairs/touch-ups. Unfortunately, this approach results in a really nice job that is subsequently touched up by guys that really don't understand the proper touch-up/repair/completion process. So in essence, you get very nice work that looks like it is a few years old with many questionable touch ups and repairs. If there was more attention paid by the Manor Project Manager to ensure that finished work is properly protected along the way then most of these touch-ups /repairs would not be required. However, the Manor approach seems to be that anything can be repaired but then the repairs are done very poorly. This is probably our biggest problem with Manor - it is very tough to watch your beautiful new floors, walls, spindles, railings subsequently get damaged by the Renovator themselves and then not allowing the original trades repair their work. Absolutely drives us up the wall!

As our first renovation, we thought that we had done a good job of viewing Manor renovations and speaking to past customers. Looking back now, the past work that they showed us were generally not recent jobs. If you are considering Manor, I highly recommend that you ask to see their complete project listing for the last year and speak to these recent customers. The recent departure of many Manor staff also tells me that company health may not be high. We've also heard them talking about a 'new build' project that seems to be their primary focus recently, leaving our job to serve as filler work when they were not busy with the new build.

I really wish that I could give Manor a positive review (and if Mark had actually listened to our concerns along the way I'm sure that I could) but unfortunately this has been a long 8 months for our family (estimated by manor to be a 4-5 month project) that has had some high points along the way but the last 3 months have been very frustrating and hard on our family.

Thank you for your review Derrick. It has always been our approach to do quality control, deficiencies and touch ups "in house" as it is our name - Manor Renovations - that gets scrutinized, not each individual sub trade. We also hire, at our expense, an art restoration company to deal with any issues that were created from the renovation. As far as references for past work - we usually are showing completed jobs within the past 12 - 18 months. As a reminder - we even have shown your renovation to perspective clients - can't get any more recent that that :)...
As a benchmark for the finished product we adhere to the Alberta New Home Warranty specification documents http://www.anhwp.com/wmguide. We hear your frustration and will continue to work with you until your deficiency list is completed and signed off.

Kitchen and Main Floor renovation

Manor Renovations did a fantastic job on our renovation! I knew Manor was the company for us from our very first meeting - their passion, patience, flexibility, transparency and desire to make sure we were happy customers was evident every step of the way.

They were very conscious of our budget and helped us make choices that stayed within it while still ensuring we got what we wanted. The quality of workmanship is evident in every little detail.

Living in a construction zone for several months was tough, but Manor did everything possible to ease the disruption and it was very much appreciated. We are thrilled with the final result and get so many compliments on our new kitchen and updated main floor.

If you are looking for a quality renovation with great project management, I highly recommend this company.

Thank you very much Bianca - Everyone hates the "construction zone" but you do eventually get to the end, and get to enjoy.

Flooring, wet bar, bathroom, paint

Manor replaced all our carpet with hardwood and cork, installed a new wet bar in the family room, completely gutted and renovated the master bathroom, and then painted the whole house.

This was our first major reno. The project went pretty smoothly, given the extensive nature of what we ended up doing. We worked on a cost-plus basis rather than a lump sum estimate, which made more sense as we changed the scope a couple of times.

The bathroom was their design, and is simply amazing. I have the most glorious shower ever!

Manor has stayed in touch in the year following the reno. We're very pleased with their work and would recommend them for major or minor projects.

Kitchen Renovation

We had several contractors give us an estimate, we ended up delaying the Reno for six months. Manor stayed in touch with us during our delay whereas we never heard back from the other contractors. Manor's pricing was in line but not necessarily cheaper. We awarded Manor the work and they did not disappoint us with the end results.

Top to bottom Reno

Out of 5 final contractors the guys at Manor seem my best fit. We spent 6.5 months doing a total top to bottom Reno and these guys were awesome, as is my beautiful home. I don't Think I would have been as happy with anyone else. And our time line was on the button. The guys were sometimes surprised by how quick i made decisions...research helped. Thanks so much Rick, Mark and the whole Manor family!

Home Renovation

We had Manor Renovations renovate our main floor on our 1980 4 level split: kitchen, dining room, sitting room and then the next year we had them do the 4th level: main bedroom ( we converted a bedroom into a huge walk in closet) and 2 full bathrooms.
The renovations were handled efficiently and professionally with minimal disturbance throughout the project. We are very satisfied with the quality of work and craftsmanship of the various trades used in our project. The results turned out fabulous and we had a neighborhood open house to show off the completed project.
I would highly recommended Manor Renovations to anyone considering renovations projects of any size.
