Leaking kitchen faucet needed replacement. I turned off the main water to the house. I purchased a $299.00 MOEN faucet, top of the line. Called McKeena based on reviews seen on Homestars which I prefer to do. The rep told me they could come the very next day (Friday) which was fast. I could not take the day off work so they offered to come Saturday which worked well for me. At no point ways price ever discussed. The price in the end for Saturday visit was reasonable. They really should inform clients the hourly rate prior to doing any work. Preferable on the phone.
The two guys who came were both very courteous and friendly.
They jested that this was the third of the same model faucet they installed that week. They did mention that it was difficult to get in behind the sink and they were having some difficulty tightening. But they managed to get it installed and even cleaned up after their clutter. Asked me for a waste bag for the old parts. I was pleased with them.
After 5 days the faucet became loose. I called back McKeena and they promptly advised me that all the goose neck MOEN faucets were giving trouble and recommended I remove and return it back to the store, and I should have bought a faucet from McKeena instead to avoid this issue. He did advise they could come back to tighten it, but it would just get loose in another 1-2 weeks. He recommended I purchase one from him and he would come to install it the next day. I turned down his offer to charge me for a second faucet installation.
The next day I went under the sink and found the nut keeping the faucet tight was very loose. I found a wrench and spent a few minutes tightening it myself. It was hard to get in to tighten. It has now been a month and the faucet is tight as ever, even with me intentionally trying to shake and loosen it.
I am disappointed that McKeena did not immediately come to check why the faucet was loose before insisting the faucet was faulty. I was also disappointed that at no time was price ever discussed until the bill came out.
I would not use them again. Not because of price, but because they assumed the faucet was the issue and not the installation.
Additional:
I was requested by HomeStars to provide a copy of my paid invoice, which I did, otherwise HomeStars would have pulled down my honest review. I am not a competitor as McKenna might claim.
Simply put McKenna did not install properly and they made me feel it was the manufactures fault, when it it actually theirs. All they had to do was come and tighten the faucet but they did not want to honour their warrant.
Hopefully they do not try any retribution for my honest review.
