I called 3 of the top companies listed in Homestars for a quote to repair some bricks at my mom's house which had been damaged during the ice storm. Company #1 said the job was too small for them to come by - their minimum job was $1800. Company 2 and 3 came promptly and provided an estimate. We went with Tony from Straight Up Masonry as it was the most reasonable estimate. My mom, who isn't always comfortable with people she doesn't know, found Tony to be courteous and helpful.
Work couldn't be started right away as it was dependent on the weather. Tony contacted me to schedule work at the first forecast for a dry and warmer day. He sent 2 guys over within the hour that he said they would arrive and the repair work was completed in about 3 hours. I wasn't at my mom's place during this, but she said the guys were very nice, did good work and didn't leave a mess behind. They even filled in some cracks by her bedroom window sill as part of the service. Thank you to the team at Straight Up Masonry!

- The other company provided a much more detailed estimate. If I didn't read the feedback on Homestars, I would have been hesitant to go with Straight Up Masonry as the estimate was pretty high level/basic.
