Straight Up Masonry

I found Straight Up Masonry on homestars.com and invited them to quote on rebuilding my quaint but decaying chimney because they had received consistently strong reviews. Tony has great listening and problem-solving skills, his quote was thorough and price competitive, and ultimately he offered a solution that best matched what I was looking for. In my case, this meant trying not to disrupt the "look and feel" of the old chimney as the house has the charm of an older Toronto home. Tony did this by finding a brick that would best match the colour of the house, showing me a sample first, by incorporating some of the existing stone inlay from the old chimney into the new one in a similar random pattern, and by using the existing stone cap which the team improved upon by carving a drip edge into it. The team executed the plan on time and on budget. Because they got the scope of the job right in the first place, no one tried to up-sell me on any aspect of it. The crew was very friendly and professional, allowed me access to the chimney to review the status of the job whenever I felt like it, and cleaned up before they left the site. A remarkably pleasant experience!
