They out-performed our expectations - time, money, customer service, and, quality.

Time:
The finished portion of our basement measured 575 sq ft and all work was completed in exactly 10-days, start to finish. In fact, our laundry was operational even earlier. Over the last few summers, I've watched contractors in my neighbourhood finish basements and take months to do it; imagine my delight when FinishedBasement.ca promised 3-weeks and finished in 10-days. That is unprecedented!

Money:
The project was actually completed under budget. During the work, we added a few items, including foundation crack repair to three areas, upgraded doors, and extra plumbing. Even with these extra items, not originally included in the quotation, the project came in under budget.

Customer Service:
Everyone we dealt with made good on their promises starting with Vitally (sales), Natalie (design), Igor (construction planning), and the crew of workers. Absolutely everything they said happened exactly as they described. When I went out for quotes, Vitally with FinishedBasment.ca was the only contractor who gave me a quote on the spot, and worked up the numbers right in front of me, using preprinted worksheets and unit rates. The other contractors were less formal and took several days to provide numbers. While sitting with Vitally, before I had other quotes to compare, I knew I was going to work with him because it was obvious his family are experts. The close-out process, reviewing the final numbers with Igor, follows the same process using preprinted sheets, referring back to the original quotation - very professional and consistent. The workers are incredibly friendly, respectful, patient, and trustworthy. The daily progress was unbelievable. For instance, at the end of Day 1, material was on-site, cracks were repaired, and the entire basement was framed.

Quality:
The finished product is outstanding. Not a single deficiency during the inspection with Igor. The crew worked in a few really nice finishing touches that I'm sure are the trademark signature of the company. Natalie helped us pick attractive, quality finishes and was incredibly friendly during our appointment at the showroom. Our basement is somewhat awkward - narrow, low, ceiling filled with ductwork and the workers took the time to open up every inch of space they could, putting in a great deal of effort.

To sum it up, the crew at FinishedBasement.ca is as good, and better, than all the reviews. I chose them to bid the work by pouring through on-line reviews and inviting four additional contractors to bid. In the end, FinishedBasement.ca was the middle price by only a few hundred dollars and I am absolutely certain I would have spent more with others because they did not use open-book unit rates like FinishedBasement which means, at the end of the project, there will be surprises. With FinishedBasement.ca there were no surprises because I was able to keep track of extra costs by referring to my quotation (it's like a menu).

Here's my advice to anyone who is shy to seek multiple bids and lacks the time to spend a couple months collecting quotes - build on my experience and just call Vitally at FinishedBasement.ca because I personally feel no one in this city does better or faster work.
