Refinishing bathtub & surrounding tiles
They did a poor job. Small puddles of the finishing mixture were evident in the far corner, some places came out smooth & others did not .
They also splattered some of the finishing compound on my walls.
They did not come back to clean it up or refinish the uneven final coating when requested . Their answer was had we noticed when we finished we would have cleaned up and refinished the uneven finishing coating. Also their guarantee is 3yrs competitors are 5 yrs. Now they advise HomeStars I am not a previous customer ?? I DO NOT recommend these guys.
Oct 2, 2012 Now that Stone Age Coatings has responded, I will clarify a few things:
a) Brad did offer to send someone over & I responded by telling him that would be a good start to resolve the issue of the uneven and puddles of coating in the corner. I never refused the offer to send someone over as he alleges
b) when I told him that I called him about 6 times to ask for a copy of an invoice he said he could not believe it - well its over 2 weeks since the phone call and still no invoice for the job
c) After my initial review, Brad ( owner) informed HomeStars that I was not a customer; I sent a copy of my cheque and a copy of a quote to them showing I was a customer...hmmm
d) at the end of our conversation, Brad told me to have a good day & did not mention he would send someone over to fix the coating job or send me an invoice
e) bottom line right now ( Oct 2, 2012) : unresolved coating issue ; no invoice; I took the time and spent my own money to repaint my bathroom; Brad still can call me to rectify the problem and Brad was paid in full and on time
- Approximate cost of services:
- $800.00
- Company Response
Looking online I noticed a review written by Henry after searching for the invoice I had to call 411 to locate him as the invoice was back nearly 3 years and could not be found.
I called Henry approximately 9/13/2012. I asked about the review, especially when it has been nearly three years since the job was completed. He said that it still had not been dealt with and he wasn`t happy, I mentioned to Henry that I would have a guy come over to fix any problems (even if it meant to re-spraying the tub) He refused and said the bathroom had been repainted and that he didn`t see the point in redoing the tub. I asked about the review where his concern changed to the warranty and an invoice that he said I didn`t give him (but had to be presented to Homestars for this review to go up) and that the warranty was only for three years which seemed fine to him at the time. A three year warranty is quite common especially back a few years ago, the reason that most offer 5 years now is that there is so much competition that companies have to make it more appealing to get the work. I asked if the coating on the tub and tile surround were OK and not failing and he said yes they are fine.
I don`t see the point in writing a review for a company if you refuse, don`t want or don`t need any repairs. I have been self employed for thirty years in the resurfacing business. It’s one of the toughest businesses when it comes to satisfying people because of the number of jobs completed in a year as we could be doing one to two jobs a day. Of course there will always be an unsatisfied person from time to time but given the chance that can always be rectified.
