Vanguard caulking guys were recommended by my fiend who had his house re-caulked. When I saw the results I decided to call them. That was best decision I made. Amazing Job! I had no idea that my house can look so good without replacing windows. Thank you!

My house re-caulking experience
Dealing with Vanguard Caulking was a pleasant surprise from start to finish. Every step from the estimate request right through to finishing the job was done on time and as promised. I am happy with our new caulking on windows and doors; in addition, they brought up to my attention, that some of the vents on the house have been broken and replaced those with new ones at no extra charge. They did a great job and left our place cleaner than the way they found it. All in all it was a very pain free experience and excellent value.

I had called a number of the caulking companies that had good ratings here on Homestars to recaulk my entire solarium. It is crucial to get it done properly as the entire roof is glass and the caulking is all that prevents leaking into my house. Only a couple of the companies returned my call. Rimas of Vanguard was the only company that came to my house to look at the work to be done. He gave me a quote on the spot and said it could be done within 2 weeks. This is quite different than the other company who also has lots of high ratings on Homestar-he had me go measure all the solarium windows as he was too busy to come over to look at the job. This other company did give me a quote after I gave them my measurements. Initially I was interested in going with this other company due his high ratings but when I asked if he had comprehensive insurance and WCIB insurance for the workers (as they were going to be working on top of large panes of glass and I did not want the liability if something happened on my property), he would not return any of my calls even after I left 4 messages. Vanguard had no problems confirming they had both types of insurance.
I am glad I went with Rimas of Vanguard. He and his assistant showed up early on the day that was scheduled, removed all old caulking and cleaned the glass and relaided a nice clean bead of industrial caulking around all panes of glass. This was not easy to do as they had to be careful working on a glass roof. Also, he did not skimp on the caulking as he laid a large even bead which will provide a better long term seal given the added surface contact area. He completed on time and cleaned up everything.
At the end, he provided a written warranty (the other company said they don't provide written warranties and that all their customers just trusted them).

We contacted Vanguard Caulking for an estimate, and Rimas visited to provide a quote the next day. He committed to completing the job on Monday, a few days later. He took the time to explain the process, and patiently anwered all of our questions.
Rimas and his colleague arrived as arranged and started removing all old caulking. By end of day they had recaulked 19 windows, 3 entrance doors, 2 sliding doors and 2 garage doors in a most professional manner. Rimas filled all gaps that were never caulked before, replaced vents and matched the colour to the surface as needed. The caulking used was professional grade Dow caulking, and the finished product and workmanship is nothing less than amazing. Completely straight lines, smooth finishes, no mess on the brick, and no bulges between bricks. They cleaned up perfectly and left no trace behind other than a 10 year written warranty on their workmanship and product. Even our neighbours commented on the quality of the work as seen from their backyard. We are very happy with Rimas' work and can highly recommend Vanguard Caulking services to any home owner in need of this work.

I contacted several caulking companies most of which are listed on homestars, While all called back, they called back at times varying from one day to one week (one contractor made an appointment, never showed, then called a few days later to say he was in the area) .

Rimvy responded promptly to my inquiry, provided me with a reasonable quote ( live on a corner lot with many windows) and was awarded the job. He turned up promptly at the agreed upon time (7 am) and reviewed with me what he was going to do. He and his companion worked diligently during the day and were done by 4.30. At all times they were courteous and answered my mom's many questions patiently. His work was immaculate, he dug out the existing builder caulking, replaced the foam inserts and used a high quality sealant. He then cleaned up the work area and left things in the same conditions as he found them. I would recommend him highly if anyone was interested in having caulking professionally done at a reasonable price.

Prior to initiating the repair (to the inside of) our north-facing front window, the contractor we hired advised us that in order to provide long-term integrity for what would be a superb job on his part, the second-floor and main front windows would have to be properly insulated and re-sealed. To the Yellow Pages I went. Of the two companies contacted, Rimvy at Vanguard was first to respond. He showed-up the next day at the appointed time, quoted me a price, which was slightly lower, but in the neighbourhood of my own (amateur) estimate for labour, materials, and clean-up, and indicated he could start the job right then and there. Fortunately (for us), he had arrived in a van topped with ladders and filled with cases of professional-quality caulking (the kind you can't get at Home Depot) in various colours. I colour-matched as he cut away the existing exterior caulking on all four edges of the big window. Lo and behold, there was no insulation behind the caulking! None at all. On a house we bought as "new!" Rimvy insulated and properly caulked the four front windows in less than two hours. We hired him to insulate and caulk around all other windows and doors, which he did at mutually-convenient times. Rimvy's as much artist as "repairman." He communicates well, knows his craft, gets right to work, cares about the resulting functionality and look, and even whistles while he works. I trust him as I trust the quality of the remedy he provided.
