Moving 3000 sq.ft House

I am neutral with this one . Nice guys but look to struggle with larger moves. Do not use if you have more than 3 bedrooms .They are not equipped . Truck is way too small , they needed a backup truck and threatened to charge extra even after a quote was done in person .
Definitely dollar is number one .

Not pro experienced movers , took way too long to stack /pack in the truck and get going ....paid by the hour of course .
I had to jump in and really help to get them going at a better pace .

Damages - yes, file cabinet , bed , picture frame etc...etc...
Mess in house - yes , token effort was made but really not enough , damages to walls and floors .
Some of this to be expected of course , but I really thought looking at these reviews that Firemen movers would be different and take it to a higher level .

Also , I pre-moved almost 1/3 of the house after the quote/visit to help out ,even after that they still didn't hit their quote (hours) and the truck was still way too small . The 2nd emergency truck was full up and I decided to leave items behind to pick up myself after, that's a little bothersome as well.

One last note . 4 guys 144 an hour .
They charge an extra hour up front before they get there for traveling or something . They also charge for their lunch break etc.. and of course round up all times for charging in their favour .

Over all neutral , nice enough guys but not their calling .
I think it's strictly about making money , guys were in the truck bragging about how much money they made last week .

Neither recommend nor deter , watch the time /money and keep
on them to keep it moving if you are going to use them . Prepare yourself for damages and a higher bill .

I had it at 6 but changed it to a 5 after reading the reply .
Reasons below . 1) There was no snow storm , anyone living in the GTA knows we haven't had a 'snow storm' yet . 2) There was no pre-mention of 2 trucks, 2 moves or anything like that at any time .
3) I had to pester the Crew Chief to call in for another truck as I felt they were 'way' overloaded , he wanted to go back and forth in between properties ..... in addition .... 4) they were ill equipped with modern , clean and working tools , I had to dig into my toolbox more than once and actually had to drive to get others at another location and return .5) They tied my front door to the Mailbox to hold it open , which is now broken as well.

They keep telling me that a second truck is of "NO" cost to me .
The Crew Chief mentioned that it is chargeable item .
Really who cares , not my issue , if the move is too much they should not take the job .

There are more than a couple of repairs to be done , but we can take care of that ourselves (unless we find too many more as we unpack).Yes , still unpacking .....
We have moved a large home 4 times in the last 24 years .
We have seen the most damages in this last move.

This is about an honest Review for the public.
Mine reflects the experience of the day.
Others may differ on their day.

I honestly hope that Firemen can take this as a learning
experience to grow and become better than the rest .

Company Response

I just wanted to take a chance to clear a few things up with 'Bruce' from Etobicoke. We are sorry you were not happy with your moving experience with Firemen Movers. You mentioned that our truck is not big enough. We sent you a 28' moving truck which is the biggest straight truck on the road. It is a full sized moving truck and it is fully equipped with all of the latest moving equipment required for any small or large size move. I did the quote for your move myself and it was explained that a second trip may be necessary, due to your contents load, as your new home is close by to your old home. On the day of the move our Crew Chief called and said it all wouldn't go in one load, close but not quite. At that time I said I would bring out the 16' truck to finish it off in a timely matter, at NO cost to the client, which I did. When I did the in-home estimate I told 'Bruce' that I estimated the job would take around 8 hours of work time plus we would have to add 1 hour of travel time. The travel time allows us to pay our guys to get to his place in the morning and back to our shop when they are done. We have to pay them for this time and it was clearly communicated to the client. It is also an industry standard. The actual move ended up taking 9.25 hours, partly due to the fact that there was a large snow storm on the day of this client's move. As for rounding up, we charge in increments of 15 minutes so I am not sure how this equates to rounding up. Also, our movers do need to stop for lunch between the origin and the destination as they do not take breaks while at our clients homes. Lastly, if our clients ever have any issues with damage, and unfortunately it does sometimes happen, we at Firemen Movers will always work with them to make sure that repairs are done and everyone walks away feeling like they have been treated fairly. This is always our goal. No damage issues were brought forward to us by 'Bruce'. We do thank you for your feedback as we are always striving to improve our service and we can only do that by listening to our clients.
