Air balancing

The temperature discrepancies in our home made us wonder if we needed a new furnace & air conditioner. The second floor was sweltering in the summer, freezing in the winter. We thought maybe even duct work renovations were in store because air circulation & temperature regulation were so poor. A friend suggested air balancing & we called Frank. I wish we had called him sooner. The difference in our home is like night & day. We've never been so comfortable. The benefits speak for themselves. The efficiency of our air conditioner in this recent heat wave has been unbelievable.

Frank was professional, efficient & very through. He listened to our concerns & problems, answered questions & offered suggestions. His experience was evident as he worked meticulously for more than 4 hours to get everything just right.

Excellent service!! I would very highly recommend Frank.

Air balancing and furnace adjustment/maintenance

Heating was very uneven in our brand new house. Once Frank came over and did air balancing (took over 4 hours of meticulous work), there was an immediate and marked improvement in the heat balance overall. Plus, Frank returns to do minor re-adjustments for free, if necessary.

He has also done minor maintenance work and optimizations on my furnace (filters/cleaning/etc.) for a very low price, so you might want to ask him about that too while he is there.

He has also installed a new high-end thermostat. Once he found extra wires in the wall, he connected it to control the humidifier, so now the entire system is integrated!

In short, our experience with Frank has been outstanding and we recommend him very highly.

air balancing

We have a newer home which has extremely uneven heat throughout. Once Frank has come to adjust and balance our heating, it has been a difference between night and day. The heat is more balanced. Frank has offered to come back if we are not happy with something.

Historic home needing solutions, Cabbagetown

Purchased a new (old) home in Cabbagetown, Toronto. Rapidly came to the decision to spend whatever it took to put in a (new) new furnace. Tropical temps in one room or area and dry cold in others.
I knew Frank was involved in HVAC for years so I gave him a call to inquire as to referrals for new furnaces. Frank suggested he come to the house before we spend the 5-8 grand on a new furnace. Frank came with a truck of gages and equipment, asked questions as to our likes for temp. when we sleep etc. Adjustments were made and time was spent. The end result was a home without the extremes and cold spots where they shouldn't have been.
Frank also suggested solutions to correct items above and beyond the existing system to correct faults. No pressure, just professional, experienced and educated details. When you come to the end of your rope and need a company with knowledge and integrity the solution is at hand.

Air Flow Balancing

Frank did air balancing on our new house. It is a smart thing to do as we are remodeling the use of the spaces and rooms. Frank is efficient, courteous and thorough. He even showed us how we can adjust the direction of our heating and cooling ourselves.

A few weeks after, our furnace stopped working just as we really hit winter! We hesitated to call Frank as we didn't wish to imply it was his fault at all. But we learnt that Frank is a respected industry pro and thought he can at least give us an honest assessment before dealing with a contractor we don't know. He came over with a smile and even fixed the problem. Frank clearly goes above and beyond and he stands by his service. Thanks Frank.

Air Flow Optimization

We moved into our home in December 2008 and we found the first winter quite cold, especially in our bedroom. When I learned of the air flow optimization service I was quite intrigued and a quick phone call I was convinced this would help me troubleshoot the problem. Toronto Energy Team came to my house and measured/inspected the air flow coming out from the registers, it confirmed my suspicion that the bedroom was not getting enough warm air. They also showed me areas where the builder had neglected to properly install the return air on the second floor!

I was extremely please with the service provided, they really took the time to listen to my concerns and explain the process. I would recommend this service to anyone who's just purchased a home or concerned about rooms that are too hot or too cold.

Air balancing

Although we had recently installed a top of the line Lennox furnace in our home it hadn't been set up to match the exsisting duct work effectively. Frank told me it was fan speeds and balancing dampers that he adjusted to make rooms warmer that were always cold and rooms comfortable that were always stifling.

I found it hard to beleive nobody had done this before.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Find a way to let more people know that they are out there and what they can do for your home comfort.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
$350.00 isn't much to have a more comfortable home. I think my gas bill may come down as well because I can now set the thermostat at 21 instead of 23 or 24 and those formerly cold rooms will still get warm.

Company Response

Thanks Ruthie. I am glad to have helped with improving the performance of your new furnace as well as the comfort level in your home. Please mention it to your friends.
In defense of heating and air conditioning service people who haven't done this for you or other customers in the past a couple things could be noted.
1/ Furnaces are more complicated than ever with many features and performance adjustments possible internally. Manufacturer's need to insist on training technicians who install and service these products.
2/ The owners of the heating contracting companies need to add thorough training to their business plan. 3/ Home owners need to ask and insist that their furnaces are tuned to the best performance they can provide with their existing duct system. thanks again
