Natural gas was shut off due to low pressure (signifying a leak) as well as some minor code infractions. bottom line - no hot water! Chris came on a Sunday to assess the problem and found that the gas pipe was inaccessible thanks to a poorly designed extension (it was as if the extension was built on top of the old pipe) added by the previous owner. Rather than just take the easy way out right off the bat and install a new flexible line, he opted to give repairing the old line a shot (which would have meant $200 savings for me).
Chris returned the next day with Doug at the appointed time (noon) and proceeded to spend a good 2 hours trying to find a way to fix the old line with no luck. We resorted to the pricier option of installing a new line and bypassing the old but even this proved challenging as it was no easy task to find a feasible access point for the pipe from the exterior. They ultimately got the job done, repairing the leak and clearing all the other infractions before sun down same day and kept the price within the quoted amount for the line bypass, even with the extra labor involved in the fruitless repair attempt of the old pipe.
Thank you Chris and Doug for all your hard work in restoring hot water for us as quickly as possible.
