Moving from Burlington to Toronto
I found Omega Movers online, their website looked professional. I was in contact with Michael, a sales representative via email. I outlined every detail of the move with him to get a quote, and they asked for $59.99 an hour. Seemed like a great deal, and they were quite professional, so we went ahead and booked.
This morning, two men arrived late, demanding more money each per hour, on the premise that not everything about the move had been disclosed (specifically that the destination is a walk-up apartment). We haggled with them because of the last minute nature of the situation and came to a verbal agreement.
They then wanted to be paid before they unloaded the truck-I've heard from friends that this can happen, but these two men were simply not trustworthy. In the end we asked them to leave because the original terms of the agreement weren't being met.
During the whole discussion, I tried to call my contact Michael and left voicemails- however there was no answer at the main office after the movers arrived. I suspected that I was only calling the cell number of one of the movers.
I can't stress this enough. DO NOT go ahead with this company.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $600.00
- What could this company do to improve their services?
- Stay true to their original quote.
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- Go with a more reputable company even if it means more of a charge. The security is worth it.
