Home renovation

Claxton Gates provided a detailed and easy to understand break down of the work that needed to be completed for the design vision, that helped us to understand what would be happening at each step. We had been a bit apprehensive going into our renovation because of the nature of our home and neighbourhood (no parking, tight spaces for maneuvering equipment, close neighbours) but Claxton Gates put our mind at ease; they were flexible, creative, and respectful of our neighbours. Their estimate was reasonable and accurate, and the process went very smoothly. We are really happy with the final product! The process of working with Claxton Gates was a really positive one!

Removed supporting wall

A few years ago, I hired Claxton Gates to remove a supporting wall between our kitchen and family room. Michael came by and talked us through what he would do, explaining our options. He was there for all the work and did a great job - in a few days, the wall was gone, the mess gone, everything nicely finished.

More recently, having moved to a new house, I had Michael quote on another job. He gave a fair quote but the timing didn't work out so I didn't hire him. Next time, I will wait because my experience with the contractor I did hire wasn't nearly as good.

basement apartment

We had a smeely old basement in our duplex thatwe needed to renovate. Mike came in with the idea of adding a bachelor apartment. Wow, why didn't I think of that. We now have a faboulous laundry room, great storage area for our tenants, a workshop and a an added unit to our income property. The rent from our apartment has paid for the renovations and soon we will be able to start renovating the other two units of our property. Mike has done a walkthrough of both units and has made some great suggestions. Such as vaulting the ceiling on the second floor to add a loft feeling, moving the kitchen around to make it more functional, utilizing the old sunroom to make a more spacious master bedroom, adding laundry facilities to each unit. His ideas are fantastic. All of which will add value to the properties and make it possible to rent them out for top dollar.

If you have an old proerty you want to turn into an income property, give Mike a call.

Electrical, drywalling, capentry

I have had Michael help with our home(s) for a few years now. I have had him repair/install electrical, install lights, ceiling fans, insulate and drywall walls. Lots of little jobs which add up in the end if you start calling more than one trade. He knows what he is doing and he offers suggestions on projects I never thought of. He is a pleasure and is always on-time or he will call (rarely) if he is late has to reschedule. He cleans up the areas well and I will continue to use him. He was here just today to provide yet another estimate on other work I want done. No issues. I know his prices are fair and I cannot begrudge anyone who really enjoys their job!My price ranges from around $100 - $400 again it really depends on the complexity of the job.
