Mr. Kuo of the company displayed poor workmanship by not properly installing the toe strips/ quarter rounds. Edges of the quarter rounds were left exposed. Some of his cuts were not even clean such that the quarter rounds don't even meet at the corners, leaving gaps in between the joints. Even though he said he'd done many flooring projects, he proved to be merely a novice really.
He also said during his estimate that his cost includes the cost of cleaning-up, however this was not the case. He swept the floor slightly but the floor was still covered in dust by the time he left. He left my balcony covered in dust, without any effort to mop/sweep it up. When enquired about this, he said "this is just what we do on every job." Clearly, he doesn't believe in doing a project from beginning to end. Unprofessional attitude...just wants to get the job done fast, but not necessarily right.
Many of his customers come from his newspaper ads (chinese papers), but I hope that people don't entrust such a big project to him in the future. Maybe he's good at the other things he advertises he does - painting, ceramic flooring, window washing, but definitely not floor-laying. Don't get fooled by his seemingly politeness. Sadly to say, I will need to get some new baseboards and quarter rounds - when I save up the money to do that again.
