I used Reach Restoration before to tuckpoint my whole house. I was so happy with the work that when it came time to do some brick and sill replacement I thought of Jim and his crew right away. I discovered after my carpenter demolished the front verandah
that there were brick repairs and tuckpointing to perform plus a window sill replacement. Since the verandah rebuild was on a tight schedule I called Jim at the last minute to see if he could fit in my job. With his usual consideration he juggled his time and arranged for the job to be done. I am very grateful that Jim and his crew found the time during their very busy schedule and as before did an amazing job. Next time Jim I will give you lots of warning. Thank you again Jim and the guys for coming through.

I selected Reach Restoration after looking at reviews on Homestars. I contacted a few companies for quotes, but Jim was a) the fastest at responding, b) the most consistent with his communication, and c) the best at explaining the job the needed to be done, but also suggesting work that should be done with solid reasons based on his expertise. I am thoroughly pleased with the work him and his team have provided.

Jim and his team were professional, conscientious, and extremely skilled from start to finish. I contacted Jim and he dropped by within the same week to do an on-site estimate. He is an expert at what he does, and explained all his suggested improvements to me in a way that was easy to understand. This was very important to me, as I am not versed in any technical aspects of masonry and had no idea what tuck pointing was, nevermind talking about mortar joints or parging.

After discussions with Jim, the final project included: tuck pointing for all areas where the mortar had worn away due to water damage, re-parging the side of the house which had been done incorrectly, and installing new stone window sills for two windows. The mortar was in poor condition, the cement on the existing parging was crumbling away (giving bugs and animals access to the interior - ugh), and the existing sills were deteriorating. Jim and his team have restored the exterior of the house to look the way we have always wanted. Everything is crisp and clean, and looks absolutely amazing.

The team was great with giving us updates on the work as it was occurring, and finished the job in 5 days (the weather was great all week). They cleaned the site up very thoroughly after every work day and we were never inconvenienced in any way by the project. Our neighbours had nothing but good things to say about how the work went down.

Some dust got into the house, but that is to be expected as our house is not a hermetically sealed tomb. Nothing a quick vacuum and Swiffer couldn't fix in 10 minutes.

I've uploaded some photos to show the before and after. Please pay attention to the following things:

1. The colour of the mortar that they mixed matched the existing mortar perfectly. These guys are artists.

2. I tried to find the step crack in the side of the house after they had finished tuck pointing, and couldn't see it! I had to reference an old photo to figure out the location. It is literally GONE.

I cannot speak highly enough of Jim and his entire team. They were the right choice, and have made our house a better place to live. If we ever need any work done again, I would not hesitate for a moment to call Reach Restoration!

Jim and his crew did a fantastic job tuck pointing the pillars on the front of our house. He provided a great recommend in the new grout colour, was conscious of my costs and happy to use bricks I supplied, and coordinated with another team I had onsite to do the best job. Reach restoration would be the first on my list to call for restoration or tuck pointing work and I would have absolute trust in them on a bigger project. I would highly recommend reach restoration!

We recently had Reach repair our chimney and found the customer service to be excellent. Knowing that there was already evidence of interior damage, Jim was able to accommodate us in his busy schedule. He kept us informed, arrived when he said he would, and cleaned up well. We were extremely impressed with Jim's professionalism and knowledge.

Reach restoration did a good job for a reasonable cost. They replaced broken cement blocks on our porch, did tuckpointing, replaced and bricked in our old milkbox, and did caulking and painting around windows and doors. They were very conscientious and professional in everything they did. In particular, they went to great pains to match the mortar used in the tuckpointing so it blended in with the original.

Jim and Reach Restoration were recommended by neighbours. They did a great job. Did what they said, when they said, cleaned up, quality work, communicated well at all stages. Also the whole crew were nice decent folks.

I am a senior living in East York whose home incurred external and interior damage during the severe winter ice storms we had at the beginning of 2014. Mr. Jim Urquhart of Reach Restoration Inc. was recommended to me by my nephew who was very pleased with the work Jim’s company had done in rebuilding his chimney. Jim came, assessed the damage and quoted a fair price for the extensive work that needed to be done. He also gave some good advice realizing my age and the poor state of my health. First, he said I should call the insurance company to assess the situation as well. I’d forgotten all about the insurance so I was glad he mentioned that. Secondly, I must prepare to leave my home while the renovation work was being done. After three and one half weeks in a senior’s residence I returned to a happy house. All work was completed and the second floor rooms had new ceilings and plasterwork. Everything was neat and freshly painted. I was really pleased with the work done. As well, my neighbour next door told me that Jim’s crew arrived early each day and worked steadily. He remarked on their courtesy and professionalism. We had two phases to our project. We engaged Reach Restoration for the first project - a bathroom reno and adjoining upper laundry room. We found the quality of work was excellent and the cleanup of the job site was exceptional even after long shifts. Site management was important as we stayed in the house during the project.

Jim Urquhart was excellent in communicating the work plans and coordinating with us on decisions / fittings that were needed so that we stayed on what was an aggressive schedule for the first phase.

Based on the first phase, we were really pleased to ask Jim and his team to be our contractor for the kitchen renovation, which involved a new floor for the whole main floor as well as plumbing, windows, electrical work to be coordinated. This project was more complex but again Jim's coordination - in person meetings and by email was timely and very effective, with a running log of changes we'd discussed and what was agreed.

We learned to trust Jim's recommendations and response to challenges encountered in the older part of our North Toronto home. We were so pleased we asked Reach to also construct a new deck (we had been planning to defer this for later) off the kitchen which capped off the project beautifully.

We had used Jim and crew on an earlier renovation on our house and realized that we needed an expert to install new stone veneer in our living room but also re-face our fireplace at the same time. Jim and his team did a great job following our design requirements and getting the job done on time. These guys know their stuff!
