I chose Mike to make my shutters and I have no regrets. I decided on wooden shutters because they look “much nicer” than vinyl shutters. If you have a good eye, you can tell immediately. I was worried about humidity damage, but every manufacturer (when asked) provided a 25 year warranty that covered humidity damage.
I met the top 5 wooden shutter manufacturers in the city (based on Homestars reviews). Everyone claims to use the best quality wood and paint in the city, but as an “average consumer” it’s impossible to validate. I can tell you that everyone had a very nice shutter. But some were nicer than others. Mike uses a premium process to make his shutters, and his finished product looks and feels very premium.
Regarding price, Mike was negotiable and we worked out a “very” reasonable price. He provided a premium shutter at an incredible value. His final quote was not the lowest, but it was significantly cheaper than those manufacturers offering similar quality. I recommend that you do your research before you meet him.
In my case there were delays, cancelled appointments and things took longer than they should have. I think it’s important to be honest, so I am including this. But I advise you to read many reviews before making any judgements. This maybe an isolated incident, and Mike did very good work otherwise.
Mike made an error when installing one of my shutter panels. As a result, there was a large gap between two shutter panels. My window frames are a bit tricky as they are vinyl. I told him I was not happy, and asked him if he could make another panel to correct the mistake. Mike stood behind the quality of his work and made another panel. Every manufacturer should stand behind their work, but I don’t think they do. From this review, I can firmly tell you that Mike does and I applaud him for that.
In summation, I absolutely recommend Mike. He provided me with incredible value. He provided me with a premium shutter. And he stood behind his work. I couldn’t be happier with the final product and installation.
