Dorset Landscaping

Winston H., who is the owner of Dorset Landscaping tried to get us to pay 100% upfront. We gave him 50%. Winston was late starting the job, and spent over a month on the job. He damaged all our gates with his heavy equipment, our heat pump, and broke our porcelain garden ornaments. He damaged our lawn with his Ditch Witch and damaged the concrete foundation below our garage door. Every time we pointed out damage, he denied it or made an excuse.
Winston would use anything laying around in our yard without asking permission.
Winston left spray from his brick cutter on our heat pump, house, barbecue, and garage.
He swore at our neighbours when they told him not to park in their driveway.
Winston's equipment was leaking everywhere and these leaks were all over our lawn, driveway, and the back lane.
Winston charged us for sealing the bricks, and for a higher priced polyester sand, but only used regular sand.
There are many areas in which Winston put the bricks on top of the fence post concrete instead of using his concrete chisel to reduce the concrete height.
When Winston was using his motorized brick compactor, he rolled it over his concrete trowel as he did not bother to remove his hand tools ahead of time.
There are some chipped bricks that we pointed out to Winston. They never got replaced.
When Winston set up his brick saw, he used my wife's bistro table as a stand. He destroyed it.
Winston replaced some of the lawn sprinker heads, but some were sticking out of the ground, and they were not adjusted. Some sprinkler heads were never installed. We had to get the company who had initially installed the system to rectify the problems.
The job was never completed and he left a mess!
My wife said he was like a bull in a China shop.
Winston's website sounds like he cares for what he does and about his customers. Nothing could be further from the truth!
Winston uses his 20 plus years in the business as an excuse to look at us as the 1% who are never happy. We have the pictures and a picture is worth a thousand words.
Winston hates any criticism when he does something wrong, and he says "You should have told me, as I spent the whole morning doing this", "I don't remember that" , "It was not in the contract" , or "I thought you were doing that?" Basically, Winston has an excuse for everything and he does not listen to the customer.
When Winston did not show up to complete the job and deficiencies, or respond to my texts, I finally text him that I would complain to the BBB, on the Internet, and
take him to court.
Winston finally responded that he no longer wanted to come back to complete the job as I was threatening his business. I don't believe that Winston had any intention of coming back and he used that's as an excuse.
Would you want to hire a tradesman like that? We really regret that we let him into our yard. We paid Winston over $12,300.00 for this. Don't make our mistake!
