King York Paving

It has been 2 yrs now since Fabio paved my driveway and it has been the worst experience I have ever had. fabio does not return calls, shows up whenever it pleases him. does not show up when arrangements have been made..
My driveway was don in October, only one week after digging it up, by the summer we had weeds growing up through the concrete, after argueing with him that his is not right he finally came by and put a little ( very little) asphalt heated over the weeds.
I noticed that my driveway was uneven in the middle and mentioned this to him, he said that he would come check into it and we would go from there.. As of today I have heard nothing, and now I have even more weeds growing up through my driveway.. This man is a JOKE.. He is very rude and very loud, customer service is completely lost on this man. I would STRONGLY recommend using a different company.

Fabio came by to discuss our new driveway. We told him what we would like, he said no problem. He then shook our hands and said thats all he needs, he will send a quote later that night or early the next morning. I never heard from him again. He even said he would take measurements after we discussed the driveway, but I watched him leave immediately. He's an assbag, dont use them.

Kings York Paving paved my driveway last year. This year the driveway was cracking, and sinking. I was not happy with the outcome. My car was literally sinking in my driveway this summer. I called the sales person- they told me to call the office. They still have not called me back.

I would never recommend Fabio or King York as it was a very frustrating experience over all. He is very bad at returning phone calls and rarely showed up when he said he would. He kept promising he would come on a certain date, but then no one would show up and then you couldn't get hold of him to find out what was happening.

We signed up to get the work done on May 21. They ripped up the old driveway at the beginning of July. The driveway and step were completed Aug 24. That's 3 months, and that seems to me to be an awful long time.

I went away on vacation with my family for 1 week in July. I left him a message on the Tuesday before we left to let him know we would be away, and to find out if he would be coming while we were away because I'd need to do something with my cars so they were not in the driveway if he came. He called back about an hour later and said they would do the work while we were away and he would come by on Thursday night to go over things. He never came so I left him a message. He didn't call back. I called him the next day (Friday) to see if he would be coming. He didn't return my call. I left a message on Saturday asking him what was going on. He didn't return my call. I called him on the Monday saying we were leaving the next day and I needed to know if I had to get my cars out of the driveway. He didn't return my call. I made arrangements with a neighbor anyway and the driveway was clear because he said he would be coming while we were away. I left Tuesday morning and got back late Saturday night and big surprise - nothing had been done. He ended up coming by unannounced the morning after we got back. He had his "foreman" with him. I asked why he didn't call and told him I'd inconvenienced by neighbor for no reason. He just sluffed it off saying he was busy and couldn't get back to me. My wife asked him about adding an extra wall around a flower bed using the same interlock stones that the step was being done in. We figured we may as well get it done at the same time and asked him how much extra it would be. He said he'd get the price worked out back at his office and call us in a few days with a price. He never called back. One day he came by our house to take measurements etc and said he would be back in a few hours. He never showed up and didn't call. Another time he came to drop off the stones for the front step and said he'd be back in a few hours. He never came back and didn't call to let us know what was happening.

At one point he said I should cut him some slack because he gave me a good price. I told him that was a crock. He didn't say before we signed up that the price he quoted was low so that meant he could ignore us. I expected the same level of service as everyone else. To the guy who wrote the review above about people not having reasonable expectations - also a crock - people expect contractors to live up to their promises and to do what they said they would do. If someone said they would give you a low price, but they would do crap work - would you hire them? No. I'm not unreasonable. I know things come up and sometimes delays happen. I know he's got more than 1 job on the go at the same time. But you know, be realistic when you give someone a delivery date. If you can't meet a deadline you set, don't keep making empty promises about when you will come. He even called my house on 2 occasions and left messages with my kids to say he wasn't coming instead of calling me or my wife at work. He had both our work numbers and our cell numbers. He just didn't want to talk to us directly and say he couldn't make it yet again. To me that's just being a weasel.

Fabio also told us that he doesn't subcontract out - but the guy who did our front step (interlock) was someone he hired at the last minute. I had to get him to reposition and re-level some of the stones because they were noticeably wrong, and replace one he used that had a big crack in it.

Once they actually did complete the work it looks OK although when it rains, you can see a line in the middle of the drive left by the roller. I've had 2 people in my neighborhood ask about my experience. They say they also used Fabio/King York and said they also were unsatisfied and had some of the same problems as me. They both said that a year after the driveway was done it was cracking, and they were not at all satisfied with the warranty service. Great - something for me to look forward to.

The one time he was real quick to show up was the day they were finishing off the interlock., The interlock guy was just starting to put the sand in between the stones and he was there waiting to be paid.

For the very reasonable price I paid, I got a nice result. A couple of people have guessed that it cost much more - if it had cost more I might rate it an eight or nine, but for the low price I paid it's definitely a ten. I noticed a couple of negative reviews have been posted,, and I can only assume it's because some people expect pefection and then overreact when they don't get it.. Pefection doesn't exist in construction. If you pay a fair price for a good job - as I did - that's ten stars., don't you think?
I want to specifically note that Fabio led this job, and that he is very professional and cares about his customers and their satisfaction. I treated him with respect and he treated me with respect. If both sides in a construction project are reasonable and fair, things can work out. They did for me. I'm happy with my driveway,
And finally, if there's a problem with the driveway in the first year (which I don't expect, but you never know) I believe that King York will make it right.

First they made a cut in the grass past the boundary arranged, and then they poured the gravel too far over so I had to rake it back about ten inches.

When they paved the driveway they left a rough edge at the garage entrance. I had a better job done at a previous house by a drive-by sealing company. Then they stained my patio stones. They had to come back to clean up a footprint and I expected them to clean the stone but they didn't and I wasn't home at that point. They left tar all over the neighbour's edging stones, and one side looks smooth while the other doesn't.

I made numerous calls to Angelo but his men didn't listen to him and they ignored me. I have called around about cleaning the stone without success.

I am amazed at the gall of this company which was recommended to me. I would never use them for anything. It would have been so simple to do a good job if they cared.

Myself and 3 neighbors all had our driveways relaced by King York Paving recently. I had an old interlocking stone driveway removed and replaced with asphalt. In my opinion Fabio and the staff at King York did an outstanding job. Afterremoval of the interlock, they laid down what appeared to me to be a very good base of gravel etc, and compacted it quite well. They explained to me that it had to sit and dry out for at least a month after which they paved. Once it was dried out nicely (about 6 weeks) they installed what looks to me to be a very thick and compact layer of asphalt (2 1/2 - 3" thick - maybe thicker). Of course time will tell, but I truly believe that the driveway will hold up very well. They did a great job and cleaned up after the job was complete. I found Fabio and the staff very easy to deal with and my calls to Fabio were promptly returned. The cost of the job was very fair. Without hesitation I would reccommend this contractor to others. I can't speak for the others, but I am told that my 3 neighbors are also quite happy. I will update this posting next spring after the driveway has been through a winter, but I feel certain that there won't be any problems.

We had our driveway re-surfaced recently, we live in a semi detached and our drive and neighbours drive are side by side, our main concern was removing our driveway without upseting the neighbours drive. When the workers came out to rip up our old drive we told them our concerns. They assured us this would not be a problem, They were right. The guys showed up on time, worked hard, cleaned up the property, and made the two driveways join perfectly. I would recommend King York to anyone.

I had my driveway completed about 2 months ago, and I just wanted to say that King York Paving is an amazing company, My driveway was completed in such a matter that not only would I recommend them to others but they will be paving my other driveways (which i rent)I found the workmanship and quality of the driveway was one of the best I have ever seen. 2 Thumbs up for these guys!!!!

I almost don't know where to start. 2 1/2 years ago Fabio came to lay my driveway. Because it was so thin and done so poorly I had weeds coming up through my driveway. My wife drives a small Matrix and it sunk into the driveway. Down the whole side were cracks and more weeds. I had a walkway done between the garage and house. For some reason they didn't feel it was necessary to slop it, instead it was like a small bathtub in the middle. Because of this, it essentially mad the walkway a 3 season pass because when we'd get a thaw and freeze the ice would be so bad and high my gate couldn't open. In a hard ran I can't walk down it because the water will leak into my shoes. During the laying process they had tar spill in the middle that looked horrible. Fabio told me it would just go away and not to worry about it. It didn't. By the time that winter rolled around after 4 months the pothole and weeds were so bad that I couldn't shovel my driveway clean. I started calling within the month that it was done (2.5 years ago) and they just finally came to finish it after I threatened legal action. Other commented on not getting returned calls and Ray not returning messages. My experience is the exact same. I made a point of calling twice a week and Fabio would go for up to 6 months without returning calls. I've never once heard from Ray. I send pictures and emails and no one could care less. The only good thing about this company is Lena in the office. I can't imagine how many people she has to deal with, with complaints but she was always cordial and understanding. Unfortunately this doesn't mask how incapable and unaware these people are about customer service. When the driveway was about to be redone I told Fabio that the foundation they re-laid was sinking again and he might want to look at it incase the driveway sink for a second time and he'd have to replace it again. His response was the foundation is my responsibility, MY RESPONSIBILTIY (are you kidding me), and if the driveway sunk again he wouldn't replace it anyways. When they did finally come back to redo the driveway they didn't fix the walkway. I called Fabio and asked why he said it is too hard and would be to much work. What a Joke. It's a good thing for him he's family. In short I'd give all divisions of the government a higher customer service rating then this circus. One last point to drive home the lack of self awareness, 2 days after my driveway was redone, Fabio sent me a text message (real professional) with the following comment "I'd appreciate if you could go onto Homes Stars and write a good review of our company". Well Fabio, if you're reading this, I hope you enjoyed it and thank you for leading me to the site that you feel my comments would get the most visibility.
