Heat pump install nightmare!!!

Reliance is the single worst company I have ever bought a product or service from.
- The sales advisor told me they were installing one heat pump but ended up installing another which they never told me until the trane rep informed me of
- The sales rep continually ignored my communication resulting in delayed follow up visits
- They had a pre-install inspection to ensure everything was ready for the install. The installer was an hour and a half late to the window that was given to me. They also did not inform me that the person was going to be late.
- The initial install they didnt check they had all the parts
- The second follow up the electricians were again missing parts
- The third install the electrician was able to finish the install but entered my house and started working without first confirming with a home owner
- The fourth visit they sent out a repair person to finish the install but that person wasnt familiar with a heat pump + electric strip setup. This took the entire day and he did nothing so I wasted a full day this time.
- The fifth visit they sent out a senior installer and again he had no idea how to install my system so he wasnt able to finish the post-install configuration steps
- Finally on the sixth visit they sent out the senior installer and the trane rep. The trane rep was finally able to setup my system.
- Before and after each visit I had to confirm whether they were coming and to schedule other visits since they were incapable of doing that themselves and coordinating with me.
- I was also out of heat for a good week and a half and they didnt seem to concerned about my pipes freezing. Since my house was around 7c during the day most days I wasnt able to work on other renovations I had going on that time which costed myself more in damages.

After all of this the best they were able to offer me was "Oh im so sorry about this..." and $500. This was a 16,000 dollar system with multiple days wasted, easily $500 in losses on my end, and the best they can do is $500. You would be far better of buying the system yourself and installing it yourself well before using Reliance.

Gas hot water tank replacement

Called about no hot water Aug 10th or 11th. First tech person diagnosed the problem incorrectly which sent the ball rolling in the wrong direction. The second tech did not seem interested and said he had to go for parts. He called later in the day to say the repair was rescheduled for the next day between 1 and 5pm. A third tech showed up the next day at 11:45. He said that dispatch was sending him elsewhere and he left. Finally later in the day a fourth tech arrived, waited for the new tank to be delivered and did the install. Aug 21st at 6 pm we finally had hot water. Do us a favor. Go home and shut your hot water off for 12 days and then give us a phone call. Will be very interested to here your story. Our number is on file with you.

regular furnace maintenance

we have just signed up for our protection plan not long ago and have waited more than a month to get our furnace to be serviced a couple of days ago but instead no one turned up.
our appointment was between 1-5pm and an assigned engineer called on route and said she would be here in 5-10 mins. I said great and asked if she would mind wearing a mask when arrived as we both are on the higher risk group and reliance web site clearly stated that they take covid seriously and that the safety and health of their customers are their priority. But instead she replied and sounded offended and asked me
why . when i said it was just for precautionary purposes and that we are on the higher risk. She then told me that she had some kind of cold or flu and asked if we wanted to go ahead. To that, we hesitated and then she asked if we would like an alternative engineer to come round. We asked if that was on the same day and she said yes. we asked again " today?" she said yes and that someone would call before arriving. So we said" ok, thanks and sorry about that"
We waited and waited and no one called. So we called Reliance Barrie to check what was going on. To our surprised and disappointment, we were told that the previous engineer was merely being turned away but did not mentioned anything about her being unwell and a mask was required and that she would have an alternative engineer for us on the same day.
We were not told the truth all along and we are very upset, annoyed and disappointed.
When asked if we could have an appointment ASAP as it is for fall and winter furnace maintenance. The next earliest available appointment date given to us was Feb 13 which another 2 months away after waiting for more than a month. This just makes us wonder what is the point of signing up for our maintenance and protection plan.
So we asked to speak to a supervisor and we were told that the supervisor, Zuvera, was not available but she would call within the next hour. Next 2 hours had gone and we still have no call.
Today , we received a voicemail while out at doctor office. The message merely said that the previous engineer was unable to wear a mask as requested and we would have the next earliest appointment date possible which is still Feb 13. She did not mention that the previous engineer was unwell, having a cold or flu. What was these all about just to brush us off like we are nobody. WE are very very upset and disappointed. We need an honest answer.

What a Relief

My original furnace and central air unit needed to be replaced,and this company got the job done ,right.All in the same day.
Me and my pet can breath much better,now.Thank you to the serviceman, and his apprentice.They clean up after the job,and no damage was done to my house.Thank you Reliance.
PS. The 190 dollars Approximate Cost quoted above, is what i will pay per month on contract, after six months.Good deal.

Lack of Customer Support

We replaced our heating and air last summer. Reliance Yanch had comparable pricing in relation to other quotes we obtained. What sold us was their 10 year parts and labour warranty. But once the salesman made the sale we never heard from him again and he would not return our phone calls. In October we had a small water problem in our basement and it was the result of condensation leaking from the bottom of the new furnace. I called on a weekend and they would not send someone out till the Monday. They told me they would be here between 7am - 11am so I had to take time off work. When I called at 10:45am they told me that my appointment was scheduled for between 10am - 2pm. And as I was talking with the rep she sent a confirmation email that was time stamped the time that we were chatting. The technician that arrived stated that the furnace was not installed properly and he made sure that all fittings were tightly assembled before leaving. Since October I have called their customer service numerous times to speak to a supervisor and have been on hold forever and told that someone would call me back and no one ever has. We had to replace flooring and baseboard and repaint and still no contact from their customer support centre. So please think twice before giving your business to Reliance Yanch Heating.

Furnace Repair

Recently I contacted Reliance to help with our furnace, it had stopped working. the thermostat was blank.

The tech from Reliance arrived to help. He was friendly and professional, was able to diagnose and repair the problem quickly, explaining what he did and why the entire time.

I plan to contact Reliance again to help with an annual maintenance, and also if there are any further problems.

I would also recommend Reliance and Tom to anyone who needs assistance.

Rinnai tankless on demand water heater

Rinnai not working, code 11 showing (ignition issue) called Reliance on Saturday 9 Oct, I’m being told no one is available until Monday 11 Oct!
Tried to call the dealer himself but to no avail.
Ridiculous customer service and false advertisement when it comes to their 24/7… it’s the call centre that’s open 24/7 NOT the dispatching.

plumbing

Adam was great. The problem was not the water heater but rather a drain. He tightened the knob & hopefully that fixed the "leak" & saved me a visit from a plumber.
Again Adam was great !!!

Furnace

Simple fix, humidity levels were directly related to HRV running in summer and not the humidifier, also the windows open brought high humidity in doors when left open. The air conditioner brought the humidity level down when windows were closed.
