I bought a new Luxaire 2-1/2 ton air condtioner off of Nick 7 years ago and have had lots of problems with it freezing up. For the past two years it has been losing gas. I took a day off work and he had promised to come and never did show up. I called Reliance Home Care and they said that Nick had the coil in the furnace way too high. That is why is was freezing up. The coil should be six inches above the furnace to make sure that there is enough air flow. Nick would not move the coil and denied there was anything wrong with the air conditioner. After all of this aggravation with Nick. So i decided to buy a new air conditioner off up another company.
The installation was far superior to Nick's mediocre installation that was done seven years ago.

If the problem was high coil then it would not be possible for the a/c to have worked through the hot summers for 7 years. The real issue was the coil and the duct was blocked and dirty. The furnace was high effiency and cfm (central fan motor) had enough air to reach the cool section. You did not need to buy a new air conditioner. We have installed the same exact air conditioner and it has worked for 18 years. If the coil is installed too close to the a/c the heat limit is shut off and the furnace will get problems. Last visit we said you needed a new orifice for your coil which is very economical but after a few calls there was no response. There was also no call for a routine tune up where 7 years is too long. We respect that you are a busy man but it is not our fault that you did not respond to an easy fix and instead bought a new air conditioner.
