P-trap replacement, bathroom sink
Do not use! I own a rental property in Barrie, however I live 2.5hrs away in North Bay, P-trap in bathroom sink corroded through and their was a pedestal sink design, which needs to be moved in order to access plumbing. I would have fixed myself, had it not been for the 5hr round trip, Its an hour job at most. Young fella calls up with quote of $315 plus the initial $50 fee to visit and taxes, so I'm looking at $410 for an hours worth of work. He calls back an hour later and says he can't remove pedestal and it must be concreted, he says the only way to remove is with a sledgehammer. Talking to tenants later, apparently he was quite young and most likely inexperienced, not to mention it was Friday 5:00 on long weekend. He asked my tenant for an exacto knife as he said his blade broke and he didn't have a replacement, lol! On the Sunday I made the trip down with a new vanity and sink prepared to demolish if necessary, low and behold I had it off in under an hour with putty knife, chisel scraper and elbow grease, whoever installed pedestal sink was liberal with the calking, but an experienced plumber should have been able to do what I could. I replaced p-trap in 5 minutes and made the 2.5hr journey back home, all the while thinking I should be on my boat right now. They still charged me for the visit even though they sent a plumbers apprentice at best.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your experience with the team at Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Barrie. We appreciate all feedback, whether it is positive or negative. There are however, a couple of things that we would like to address. As mentioned on the phone, we would send out one of our knowledgeable service technicians. I understand one of your concerns is that we did not send out a licensed plumber, however we did not say at the time of booking that this would be the case. All of our service technicians are licensed plumbing apprentices and have been with our company for a minimum of two years. All of our licensed apprentices and licensed plumbers are equipped with the knowledge and know how to perform all of the services that we offer.
The reason the work was not completed when our technician was present, is due to the pedestal sink being incorrectly installed with a copious amount of adhesion product. We were concerned about the liability of the sink, should damage be caused in the process. You had also expressed interest in replacing it with a cabinet style vanity. With those two factors, you had advised our technician to leave things as they were. As the homeowner, it is of course your own choice and discretion to attempt a repair that could cause damage.
We are happy that the issue is resolved with your sink!
