Hi Chris,

I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed in our service that we provided you 5 years ago (October 16, 2007).

I have to disagree, with your comments: we only charged you $949 for the panel change, as shown on our invoice that you have signed off on.
Where I think you may be led astray is that we provided a lot more service than just a panel change, such as:

- Supply and install a 100 Amp underground splice kit and wire extension.

- Supply and install a 100 Amp meter base and feed to the new panel location; both of these services require ENMAX to be on site for the disconnect and reconnect. If you were to just have your panel replaced both of these services would not be required.

- City of Calgary Permit.

- Supply and install new grounding and bonding on your main water and gas line.

So in conclusion, yes, you could have had the same panel installed for $1,000. But why would you want to when we only charged you $949 for the new panel to be installed. If you have misplaced the invoice, I would sincerely like to send you another copy.

Donald, I apologize there must have been a misunderstanding. Although 4-Star Electric has never been to your home to provide you with an estimate of $7,800.00, I do recall speaking with you on the phone. If you would allow me the time, I would like to clarify some issues.

We differ from other companies, in that we do not give estimates. Estimates are just approximations of how much a job will cost. We provide our customers with an exact price to complete the work and with their approval we can start and complete the work that same day. There are no hidden fees or extra costs when we are done. The benefit of having the work priced and done in the same day is a lot more efficient, but more importantly this translates into being more cost effective for our clients.

Our pricing is very open and transparent and we provide our customers with all the information necessary to make an informed decision before any work is even started. As such, our clients are informed of our $59 Dispatch Fee before an appointment is established; open and transparent pricing.

Not all companies “charge” a dispatch fee, but it is insensible to believe that these companies do not include in their estimate, the time spent to come to your house and provide you with a quote; no one works for free. Companies that operate in this manner, end up charging more since they have to make two visits as opposed to one.
