In October I approached Home Depot Barrhaven (Ottawa) to find out what size door I need. A week later I went back to order it to be told the door quoted me was the wrong size. Thus I took the resized door home only to find out the original size quoted was right after all. I returned the door to Home Depot only to find out that the sizeI needed had to be ordered from Millette, the manufacturer, due to a size not stocked at the store. It would take 3 weeks to get this door. Home Depot was good enough to honour the stocked price due to the mix up. I then get call letting me know the door would be delayed. I was nearing my boiling point as my revamped bathroom was all finished but without a door. I called Home Depot to complain about the delay to which I was told that I should understand with Black friday and Xmas coming up they were very busy. I lost my cool and told them that I should no have to take a back seat to upcoming sales as I have been in the waiting loop since October. They then escalated the delivery date. I got the door but damaged and with the wrong sized jam. I called them up to which I was told to use the door for now and they would re-order a new door wrapped with care so it would not get damaged.
The door would arrive December 28th. Yesterday I got a call from a Home depot call centre in Toronto telling me of a further delay to January 18th. 5 times I had to ask this person that I wanted to talk to his manager to a point of screaming. It was then that he put me on hold for his manager. His manager told me that if I had a problem I should go to the store to complain. Eventually I got through to him letting him know that I had been doing exactly that. I was thinking and wondering why this call centre even got involved?
The final revised date the door will be at Home Depot will be January 5th. It then has to come to me as there is no direct way to get ti to me.
I have had my kitchen redone via Home depot at a considerable cost but will think twice in using them again. The people at the store were nice enough it was once the problem left the store that things went sour. My main reason for not using therm again was that they do not seem to have any pull with their contractors to honour promised delivery dates along with damaged goods ending up due to improper protection during shipping.
