I was a customer of Syljack for 2 years and was going to drop them this year because of poor, late cleaning and a rust-scratch on TOP of the wall beside my driveway. "Ryan" promised me better service and offered me a "discounted price" to get me to stay.
They cleaned ONCE, late, on Dec. 7th. In the very early AM on Dec. 8th, they "pre-cleaned" the left side of the driveway behind my wife's car, but left a 2 ft snow bank on the right side behind my daughter's car, which couldn't get out without getting stuck 3 times. I waited to see when they would return and tried phoning them at 10:30 AM - no answer on 2 calls, which went into a "wait" queue and then timed out and went to voice mail. By the end of the second, I had driven to their office on Tecumseh, where "Ryan" made a show of calling his driver to "return" to my house and do the job right. He included a request to pay "special attention" to my address because it is a corner house and gets a LOT of snow from the plows.
Jump forward to 6 PM when I came home from work - 7 and 1/2 hours later >> No change except that the 2 foot peak in the middle had settled. My wife's car had left just after me and the snow that had been behind her car was untouched, with a good 18 inches from the marker to the pre-cleaned area.
I phoned again - or tried to! The phone message thanked me for choosing Syljack and advised me that they were CLOSED. They take customer service calls ONLY BETWEEN 8 AM AND 3 PM. They must have a great deal with Mother Nature to be able to run a snow-clearing business within a 7 hour window, including their lunch breaks!
I have already demanded a refund and will make sure I get it! I will also make sure as many people as possible know that can be done.
UPDATE: I got through by phone the next morning (Dec. 9th) and Marc-Antoine Tozzi promised to "make things right" or refund my money. He sent a driver who did a quick cleaning, leaving a thick base on the right side and a ridge projecting about 6 feet into the street. I took more pictures and went to see him(see attached).
I was told that was a "preliminary" cleaning to be sure I could get in and out, and that the driver assigned to my route would be back during the day to do it "right". This was now 11 AM on Dec. 9th.
Jump ahead to 6 PM, same day, 7 hours later - No further visit was made; the ridge is being flattened by cars going by, leaving a still thicker base on the road. It looks like someone expects the town of DDO to finish the job...IF they don't fine me for the snow "my" contractor left on the road!
