If I could give this business 0 stars I would. Their motto is that your belongings are secured in storage. You need a security code to enter the place, use the elevator, really anything, except when having to leave.
This is incorrect and nothing is secure about this place. There are gaps between the hallways and the units at the tops of the walls or between the units. There is no chain link wire to keep the units separate or from someone accessing other lockers adjacent to the locker they are in, or from the hallway.
My unit was broken into in the middle of the night and "Public Storage" just shut off the alarm. There should be no one at the facility between 10pm and 5am but obviously someone was, and they were rummaging in peoples' lockers and taking their hard-earned possessions. No security was sent to check the place out. No Police were called. The management didn't check on the locker till the middle of the afternoon the next day. Someone had accessed my unit from another locker (climbed over the wall between the units) and used my own tools to undo the back of the lock to get out which triggered the alarm. The burglar then used a trolley from my locker to take several totes of sporting goods, a couple of ladders and numerous other items to pawn for whatever useless drugs they were on. They literally walked to the elevator, took it down, and walked out a side gate the requires no code to open from the inside.
I was in the middle of moving out of province and had to come back and look over the locker, take pictures, and call the police and insurance company. The management at Public Storage simply threw their hands in the air and said it wasn't their problem, but quite obviously it's a problem as I found out there have been several incidents over the last few weeks and basically someone knows how to get in (has a code or locker there) or it's an inside job at that specific facility. They said they had minimal footage but there are cameras everywhere. There should be someone on camera pushing a trolley out in the middle of the night with totes on it at the time of the alarm. Or if they used an access code to enter the building, they should be able to trace that and give it to the police. They've done nothing as far as I know. I would never do business with them again or any other Public Storage place of business if this is how it is at all of their facilities. I would say to anyone thinking of storing their belongings there, "Think again. It isn't secure or safe."
I've lost almost $11K in belongings ... don't let it happen to you. If you have anything you value stored at Public Storage, that can be easily turned into cash by vagrants and burglars, I recommend you remove it as soon as possible.
A separate note: It appears clean, but take note of the 20 or so "rodent" traps around the place. granted they are trying to keep the critters out, but they aren't going to get them all and once one is in, dozens more will be as well. There's a slaughterhouse only 1 block away. They can't keep the rodents out forever.
