I have faced with unfair business practice such as deceptive promotional and sales tactic. On December 8 2010, I bought a computer desk at location 1237 Bloor Street West Toronto, Ontario M6H 1N6. I paid $372.90 CAD. I paid $150 CAD deposit and $222.90 cash after delivery.
Unfortunately, the desk has not performed well and the service was inadequate. The delivery was not on time, on December 21 instead of December 16, and the desk has a very poor quality:
-Scratch on the top of the desk,
-Chunk of the wood missing from the desk leg,
-Splits on the edges of the desk (all edges pretty much).
When I got the damaged desk, I refused to accept it. But the delivery man said they would not take it back and I had to go to the store to resolve the problem.
Next day I called to the store, explained the problem, they did not recall me as they promised. After that I sent an e-mail, a fax and came to the store myself. The sales person Zaim refused to return money and suggested me the exchange only. When I asked him to speak with his manager, he said he was the only person whom I could talk with.
So, I am very disappointed with the service and the quality.
I had written a compliant to the Better Business Bureau. Case was opened on December 29. The BBB had been waiting for the business to respond. My case was closed by BBB because the business didn't respond. Ministry of Consumer Services Consumer Protection Branch didn't help me either.
