Redo stairs to hardwood to match living room
This will NOT be a good review of Richard and Kami Hardwoods. Quite honestly I dont know where to start so I will start at the beginning of our interactions.
At our initial consultations Richard mentioned that the project would take a week. Which was to replace the laminate on our stairs to hardwood, and have that hardwood match the existing flooring on the
main level of the house. If we were to go ahead with the project we were to book dates with his wife Kelly.
After talking with Kelly, Richard was to start on June 26, 2023 Monday at 8am.
We had discussed that the following week we were planning on making a trip to Calgary and was assured that the project would be done by the time we needed to leave.
On June 26, 2023 no one showed up at our home. I waited until 2pm and decided to call the office and got the answering machine, I left a message asking what was going on ? I thought Maybe I had made a mistake about the date.
When I didnt get a response from my phone message I decided to write an email to Kami hardwoods asking them whats up?
Turns out that I had the day right, Richard and Kelly had a communication problem regarding a job Richard was currently on. He would be at our place at 8 am Tuesday June 27, 2023 to start. Finally showed up until 11:30am and the work started.
Even though the project was to be completed by the Friday, NOT all of the installation of hardwood was complete by then. So we pushed our trip to Calgary back so that the rest of the installation could be done, in addition to the finishing work. We emphasized over the past week to Richard that we must be on our way to Calgary by Tuesday that week. So he had Monday to complete the job.
Monday July 3. Richard completed the installation of the hardwood. Then he showed us a sample of the stain colour for the finishing. My wife thought it might work but I definitely did not think it was a MATCH to the existing flooring. Richard went ahead with it anyway and once complete I told him I was not happy with the MATCH. He become obviously upset and proceeded to clean up his tools and left without wanting to discuss it. He left very quickly and was clearly upset. ( see sample of match below)
July 4th,2023 Richard called asking where we were? Told him as discussed many times previously we were on our way to Calgary, and had to leave today.
He had left a bunch of equipment in our garage due to his rush to get out of here , he mentioned he needed the equipment to work on other jobs. We gave him the garage code to retrieve equipment he left behind .
On July 18th we called and left a message asking when the project was to resume. I continued to leave numerous messages, texts, and emails to Richard and Kami Hardwoods for the next 5 months without response as to when project would commence again.
During that time I did receive two invoices for the work done, I communicated back to Kami Hardwoods that payment was not going to happen until the job was completed.
I write this review on Jan 9th , 2024 a full 6.5 months after the project was to be started. Our floor and stairs still dont match. Needless to say we are getting quotes to rectify our flooring situation. I think we have given Kami Hardwoods more than enough time to communicate with us again.
