The PDJ Shaw Flooring salesman in Waterloo is a slick player who will have you believing that only PDJ installs quality products professionally. Our end result looks amateurish to downright awful, with visible nail holes/impact marks, product cracking less than 2 months after installation, use of caulking to try to cover up errors, creaking and movement where there should be none, very poor fit-and-finish, and dubious quality of product overall. Furthermore, our entire house was covered in dust from the installer sawing boards outside while leaving the doors open, allowing wind to blow sawdust inside. Our floor looks like it was installed by a weekend warrior handyman with ZERO fine carpentry experience. Upon complaint, the same installer was sent out to correct problems of measurement and poor quality only to make things worse. Continued complaints resulted in repeated offers to send the same installer to "correct problems" and, ultimately, complete ignorance of our concerns. Excuses were made and, overall, the salesman made us feel like our concerns were inconsequential and/or a result of the "existing subfloor or layout". No attempt was made to send a different, experienced, installer to correct the amateurish errors. Interestingly, the SALESMAN did the measurement for our floors initially and is clearly completely unqualified to do so, as evidenced by the end result.
We contracted PDJ to do our job because we have friends whose wood floors were done by PDJ to very high standards. Although it seemed too pricey, we felt it was a good company based on what we had seen and heard. We even ignored the one other poor review on this site, thinking it was likely a one-off. We know now it wasn't. It is interesting to note that the installers of our friends' floor arrived in clean, clearly-labelled PDJ Shaw vehicles while our installers arrived in unmarked vans and vehicles. Was our job deemed less important and sub-contracted to an inexperienced installer? We'll likely never know. Our poor end result speaks for itself and we cannot wait until we have enough money to replace the mess by a qualified company with a solid reputation.
Please think very carefully about hiring PDJ Shaw Flooring and, above all, ensure you get guarantees in writing. Buyer beware: do not waste your time or hard-earned money on PDJ Shaw Flooring in Waterloo, Ontario.
