installed and removed old carpet
We had our old carpet removed and installed by End of The Roll. Im giving them 1 star because the installer showed up. Before he started we told him that we just had our entire house painted a month ago and to please be careful. He told us he doesn't even touch the walls and the type of carpet we are having installed he unfold in the house so it wouldn't even scratch the walls. After he removed the old carpet and was installing the underlay I noticed he didn't sweep the sub floor which was disgusting! I questioned him on it but he told me not to worry about it. I called the store and they called him. Apparently he told them that he was taking care of it. He still never swept or cleaned it up but told his boss that he swept it with a piece of carpet (how professional). It took the installer 111/2 hours to install carpet in 3 bedrooms and a hallway because he spent most of the day on his phone dealing with personal issues. After he left we noticed there were nicks, dings, and gouges all over the walls in the hallway and bedrooms which we assume were from his tool belt. He walked around all day on the phone with his tools banging in to the wall. Some of the carpet isn't even attached to the tack strips! We have gone into the store a couple of times and have been given nothing but excuses. We had to have our hallway and bedrooms patched, primed and painted again which cost us over $700. The manager, Gary, even came out to the house before we had the walls repainted to see the damage. Both the managers, Brent and Gary, came out to our house again to see the carpet and said there was no issues (of course). He even pulled back the carpet and took a pic of the subfloor which I knew you wouldnt see all the dirt and grit in the photo. I told him to touch it and he refused to. They told us they could pull the carpet up and clean the floors but the carpet wouldnt look good after. As for the carpet not being attached, they said that when the baseboards get put back on, it would push the carpet down. My concern was that the carpet wasnt stretched properly and will eventually get ripples. They even questioned if we changed the color of the paint when we had the painters come back out. They offered to reimburse us $200 for the cost of painting even after they saw the quote from the painter and the gouges in our walls.
