Recently, we were without heat just after midnight and we called the Ottawa company who had installed our Bryant furnace in 2002, and had always been called for the service/repair of it. On-line they advertise 24/7 service and that if you are without heat they will dispatch a technician immediately. Well after much debate/dispute we were advised that a tech could only come out at 8 a.m. (sounds like no emergency service to us). The tech diagnosed a corroded heat exchanger, which at first was not going to be covered under warranty with Carrier and then it was, and then in the end it would not be, and our option was to either pay $3000 to have it replaced or buy a new furnace starting at $3500. Wow!,...for us that would be three (3) furnaces installed by this company in this home since 1994!!! Disappointed with this company and now having lost complete hope and all trust with them, we called Roger at Carleton Refrigeration Heating and Air Conditioning and explained our predicament. Right away he offered to call his contact at Carrier to see what could be done. Within a couple of hours, we were advised that it would be covered under warranty and replaced by Carleton Refrigeration for the cost of labour only. They had us up and running within 48 hours and all for under $900...a far cry from the $3000 our own company quoted us. Our sincere thanks go to Carleton Refrigeration for their assistance with the warranty coverage and for their excellent service and their honesty shown to us in our emergency. Needless to say, in future, we will only be calling them for all or our furnace needs and we highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for honest efficient professional service.
