Outstanding Hot Water Tank Warranty Issue
AA came to replace a badly leaking Bradford-White hot water tank on Nov. 15/16 that had also been installed by them on Oct. 17/11. I went online and checked the warranty status and was informed that it had expired on May 31/13. This tank was suppose to have a SIX year warranty. When Steve came back with a replacement tank he said they would definitely NOT have installed an old tank. Well he was wrong about that - they DID install an old tank. It was manufactured on Feb. 2/07 and installed on Oct. 17/11 --FOUR years and EIGHT months into it's' warranty. Now, who exactly is responsible for pawning the old tank off onto us is unknown to us -- manufacturer to supplier, or supplier to AA?? Whatever the case, we have been waiting to be reimbursed (FULLY) for the new tank for almost 2 MONTHS. Aside from the annoyance of being kept waiting, the actual cost of the tank installed in 2011 vs. the new tank installed on Nov. 15/16 is truly unbelievable. It seems a bit hard to believe that the cost has escalated 73% in the past 5 years. Really? Of course one of the first things done after this tank was installed, was to check the manufacture date to ensure we do not have another old tank installed.
I have since done some research into the Bradford-White hot water tanks and found that they are what seems to be, an inferior product with problems akin to ours. Needless to say both AA and Bradford-White (once this new one is removed) will no longer have a future in our home.
Both my husband and I have called multiple times to AA's office inquiring about the timing of reimbursement. We do receive return calls only delaying our inquiry stating that our "warranty is currently being processed". As a legitimate business that actively seeks new customers, you would think the obvious thing to do would be to immediately honour the warranty and deal with the supplier or manufacturer at a later date. AA has quite obviously made a huge mistake, but seems to be attempting to wiggle out of admitting it.
