Where can I start? These guys were the least expensive quote we received and clearly you get what you pay for.
First I should say, the owner and his son were always polite but polite did not give us good drywall. We also hired them to paint all ceilings, the bathrooms and utility room.
It started with the man who does the boarding. He came by to visit the weekend before the job was to start. We were undergoing a mass renovation including new windows and placement for windows. We showed him what areas were going to be windows and to not board over as well as what areas were no longer going to be windows and to board it up (these areas were already framed).
The morning of the job, we arrived at the site 5 minutes late to unlock the door for the crew. They were clearly in a hurry to get going as time is money. When I tried to go over again about the windows, the guy stated "we went over this yesterday, so we will just get going".... ok.
Well, not only did they leave cigarette butts on our property, they also covered 2 windows that were not meant to be covered and did not cover another that was supposed to be. I called and asked them to rectify this. The did, or at least tried as they still missed a window.
Once everything was done, we were able to move back in and get to work on our own painting. This is where everything really started to turn bad.
As I painted the house, I came across so many issues. In the entrance, there were scrape lines on both sides of the ceiling from the mudding as well as in the same area on the wall, a 8"x6" patch and another smaller patch had what looked like hundreds of pinholes in it.
The screw pops. I think in the end from what we fixed ourselves and what they came back to fix, we had about 20+ of them.
They also did not cut around a few of the light switches properly, so when you put the plate on, there is a small hole you can see.
In the office was the worst. You could see a large squiggle/scrape line of mudding and two areas that bubbled out - one quite large.
There were also areas where the mudding had not been sanded and it just jutted out.
After fixing as much as we could as it was found, it became too much so I called Tim to ask for him to rectify this.
When he came by to take notes of everything, he mentioned that drywall contractors are more or less allowed so much leeway for not getting it right. At least I think that's what he was implying. I asked him in turn if he felt these errors I was showing him were acceptable. He did respond no.
He also made a comment about the lack of light in the house because we had some windows boarded. Except the 2 areas that were the worst had natural light as well as when we came by to see the process while they were doing it, they only had one light at the site when we were there in the evening.
So a few people came by to fix some things. Among them were the screw pops. Except, that some of the screw pops were in the bathrooms and utility rooms that we had hired them to paint. When they fixed the pops, some of the areas were painted over with a brush, not a roller, so you can see brush strokes (since this time, we have had a few more pops). So the money we spent for them to paint these areas, we now have to paint certain walls again so we do not see the brush lines.
As for the light plates, 2 of them were fixed and the rest forgotten.... again.
The office, you can still see the big scrape/squiggle line though not as much and the 2 areas that bubble out, one was fixed and the other you can still see though again, not as much.
They did remove the drywall around the last window they messed up.
After having the owner come by to remedy all of this and there still being multiple issues that my husband and I gave up on having them correct and are still finding more, I would not recommend this company. *We are giving 2 stars because they were polite and they were willing to come back to correct mistakes. However, we are still finding mistakes and did not want continued disruptions to get it right.
