Belfor Surrey

I rarely write a review because quite frankly I am not impressed enough to take the time and effort it requires. If I do, then I try to make it very complete. When I read reviews, I try to determine the person’s qualifications making the comments. Are they based on facts and experience or are they expressing some sort of frustration. I am Definitely not trying to brag, just qualifying myself for my comments. I am a retired engineer who is a perfectionist with many years of hands-on experience. I hired many contractors during my years and was not overly impressed with most. Many lacked in-depth knowledge or lacked the foresight to see what ramifications their work might cause further down the road and adjust accordingly. Usually it was do the job, get my money and get out. However, this was not the case when dealing with Belfor from Surrey BC. We had a tree fall on part of our house which required extensive work. Lars and Rick (his foreman) knew their stuff and did an outstanding job. There was a lot of heavy-duty work involved and I could not be happier. Everything they did was done properly, professionally and to code. The quality of the workmanship was excellent, There were a lot of different trades involved and once they started, there were no delays between. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Fir damage

Very poor communication, would just tell us they would contact us, never did. did not complete work, used handy men working out of the back of their cars. Expensive items sandpapered, disposed of working computers and undamaged item when I complained about no communication.

Water damage and Repairs, lack thereof

On their website, Belfor calls itself "the...leader in disaster recovery..." They should delete the word recovery. BELFOR DISASTER is a better description of their very poor service. They had to do repairs in three suites and apparently, one hallway. Two months ago, my neighbour had no kitchen faucet, sink or piping, two months later, she has no faucet, sink or piping. There is one small bathroom sink that she uses. Issues of safe food handling and cross contamination are huge. The worst part is that they did this to a 77 year old woman. They are placing her health and well being at risk. Yet, Belfor cleaned the 2 water stains on the first floor hallway, the common area. But, no one lives in the hallway! The person in the unit below her basically got a cost-free reno of her suite. Belfor and strata council's failure to act is wrong on so many levels!
-No follow up by project manager, PB or manager of Belfor Vancouver, RH.
-Belfor was hired by the building/the strata council. There's a whole story there too.

Carpet water damage restoration

In part of a strata claim Belfor was the company used to help repair my home when my washing machine water tank leaked. The response from them were fast, however when it came to change the carpets, workers were not diligent. I ended up with different colour carpets and the cuts were obvious.

Sump pump failed to work and flooded our basment

Belford although very detailed and late in coming did a great job at cleaning up our basement. We waited 2 weeks for them to show up but once they did they definitely got the job done and well!

Fire Restoration

Came highly recommended by Adjuster. Didn't adequately supervise day laborers which resulted in damage to our property. Anything not properly cleaned or repaired or any damage they did was deemed a "pre-existing condition".

Spoke to rep from this company the day we signed papers to hire them. From that point on, they never returned our calls or emails & would only speak directly with the Adjuster.

When problems arose and and we got nowhere with them, we contacted the Adjuster. The response was "Well, you hired them...."?????

All in all, it was a HORRIBLE, STRESS FILLED EXPERIENCE!

they did a excellent job, they always called and advised they were going to be there. Sam was fantastic on the repairs, they fixed all my drywall and did some extra work, at a fair and reasonable price.
