Clearwater Construction Renovations & Additions

I had 2 load bearing walls removed by Joe and Ivy. After work was done (much longer than estimated), it was all drywalled and I paid the agreed amount. 7 years have passed. The house is uneven and when the inspector came, we could not even sell the house as the posts and the beams construction was not up to code. Second floor doors would gradually not close. One wall was sagging. Unbelievably, one of the posts that he installed was off the basement beam by 2 inches. The home inspector could not believe his eyes. This is a warning to all families to stay away from these guys. Consequently we had to do the walls all over again at a much higher cost.

Started strong, finished weak. 4 week project took 5 months. Ended rudely. The bones of the work were quality. BUT the wood railing was installed poorly, the staircase paint was cheap an is flaking and rusting after 1 season, drainage was not taken into account. I don't mind paying for quality, I don't demand perfect timing, but I cant recommend horrible communication, lazy design, failing attention to detail, and ending in rude exchanges.

I was very happy with the crew and the quality of the build, but a promised 3 week job took 4 months. The electrician disappeared halfway through roughing in and a replacement was not found for me. I agreed to pay the final installment (despite everyone telling me not to) and suddenly could not get the final stages of the project finished. This meant I had no electricity and no asphalt ramp - so I couldn't use the garage for my vehicles. After repeated emails to Joe, he constantly made promises for work dates that came and went. I had to pay for the completion of electrical work myself (even though it was included in the contract) and when Joe finally did the asphalt, it was rough and poorly done.

Overall, I cannot recommend Clearwater Construction. The crew did a great job, but once final payment was given I was persona non grata. Perhaps it would have been different if I had withheld payment until all work was done - a rookie mistake that I shouldn't have made, but I thought I could trust Joe. The anxiety of having the person I was paying, telling me that "these things happen" was not worth it. Steer clear of this company.
