Design work and blue print permits
Being the owner/project manager of my own business I took my project to this company, few days later I began to notice the owner has zero customer/people skills is not respectful or polite is simply rude and unapologetic and domineering, and very problematic, is not happy if you require changes or ask questions, is not courteous and not willing to compromise or engage in any discussions and displays a negative argumentative attitude, is not open to any feedback or discussions on solving issues and when an issue arises he will not speak up if there's an issue bothering him he will simply let his frustration build up then get upset and have a tantrum. Productivity is an issue, there is a very slow work schedule resulting in consumption of a lot of time/money and routinely is not up to date with code changes then points blame on permit department, has and demonstrates a very egotistical one directional attitude that is his way or walk away, consistently insist is an expert with most basic web based program's when put to the test I found there is a definite disconnect and very high lack of knowledge and is always very opinionated has to prove he's right or have the last word in any issue these are characteristics of a domineering person and does not demonstrate maturity or good people skills and not sure why or what he is competing for or with or against and what point needs to be proven.
Our project took over 1year and consistently went back and forth with errors in the end we had to go to another company to get the approval, but new company was faster, more knowledgeable with permit rules and much more pleasant/professional group to work with and CAD designer was very professional, polite, patient, highly competent individual who didn't need to be micro managed or constantly need validation his blueprints were a work of art and was very open mind especially with feedback or changes.
My advice is learn to adapt and change with time. I am sure doing the same work for all these years you must need a change as anyone would have a frustrated attitude with no movement upwards in one's career path this is when it's time to consider calling it a day ! also working with people requires people skills, patients and open communication something that is missing with you, accept feedback as people we all have opportunities to self improve and you are far from perfect and it will take you further with customers and future endeavors, take responsibility and don't point finger at others this will earn you respect from customers and people in general, when a customer speaks to you politely learn to do the same it's called common courtesy and being a professional it also shows manners this is something that is lacking in your behavior and be accepting of criticism if something is wrong then it's simply wrong and needs fixing its not a reason to belittle someone or get angry or have a tantrum. Step out of your comfort zone and see how the real world looks today, not 50 years ago, look at new ways to help your business and customers as your mindset and way of thinking are very old and outdated. Maybe accept it's time to take a communication course as you seem to stagnate in your career.
To anyone I would suggest conduct a through in person interview, ask questions and check references this man is very under prepared is not honest and doesn't tell truth will bend the truth to make himself look better in any situation which means no integrity also is unorganized in today's market the use of budget tools or business cost planning tools is a must, get everything in writing have follow up meetings to see what is working or not working, and keep in mind a drop of power in this guys hands is very dangerous thing because he can't lead or follow instructions and won't take responsibility for anything will blame someone else so he looks right, sadly we learned all this from our error if we had done this there is a lot of issues that could have been avoided and time/money that could have been saved.
