GVS Central Vac - THE PITS!

GVS Central Vac worked fine for 1 yr +7 months, then stopped after vacuuming one room - when I called, he whined, 'You spoiled my day' three times, so, back to shop-Serv chg $199, with $99 to return vac to me. I refused to pay the Return charge as I thought it exorbitant, but paid the Serv chg. Problem: Circuit Board. Second attempt: vacuumed the same room and it stopped - Reset button popped out. Third attempt: vacuumed the same room: loss of suction. Was given 2 choices: Try vacuuming once more and if it stops, I get new motor and new circuit board OR they will sell me a more powerful GVS for $499. I felt that three times was enough of a sample of this vac as I am elderly and preparing a house for vacuuming is a lot of work and when, on my first call, I mentioned this, having to lift the chairs onto the table, rugs taken up and shaken, everything off the floor to prepare for vacuuming, he shouted, "I-DON'T-CARE-ABOUT-YOUR-CHAIRS!" and other unpleasant remarks, ("It's all on tape! It's all on tape!" before hanging up on me. I hope it is, as that will verify what I've said.), over the three breakdowns. When I wouldn't opt for either of his two choices, he said, "You know what, MA'AM? Don't call here again!" His last word.
I have a useless vac which is hardly broken in and likely will be junked. If I'd had it repaired AGAIN, how long before it broke down again and I've had enough of his hysterics.
I want people to be aware of this company and its satellite stores in other towns. If they choose to do business with them, well, they have been forewarned.

Terrible product support and warranty

Bought new airstream powerhead and hose to replace beam system. Should have never bought it. Terrible hose- replaced once with one that supposedly does not kink. It always kinks and power head beater bar wore out 1 month after warranty expired. Guys' Vac shop would not replace the unit nor could they order the replacement parts.
Called McHardy in London- all parts are in stock for Airstream and even fixed my old Beam powerhead no problem.

Repair of Vacuum

My old vacuum cleaner was losing suction power, and the motor seemed to be noisier than usual recently, so I took it to Guy's Vac Shop to see if it could be repaired. The employee who tinkered with it was knowledgeable and advised me that it would cost me about $100 to fix it which includes part and labour. He had it fixed within a few days, and I was very satisfied with the results as it has been a year and it's still working fine. Since it was an expensive machine, I saved money by not buying a brand new one.

Vacuum Sales, Service, Central vac

I was in desperate need for a vacuum, so i did what everyone does and check online for some reviews. I have been using the electrolux brand my whole life, never had a problem so i wanted to stick with it. Got some basic information then went to GUYS VAC SHOP in WOODSTOCK ont. not only did they have maybe the cleanest store i have seen they also had a very wide selection of vacuum cleaners, and a great display of electrolux products. The gentelman in there ( i beleive he was the owners son) was extremely friendly and knowlegable, and actually made buying a vacuum easy. he agreed about the electrolux and not only did he have the model i wanted, he had it chepaer then anywhere i seen online, backed with a full 5 yr in store warranty, He also gave me atleast 4 yrs worth of bags. i have never been happeier with it, and i would stronly suggest guys vac shop to anyone who needs a vacuum, and doesnt want to feel pressured into buying it. truly a great business, and i will continue to shop there. they put a spark back into buying locally, SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS!!
