Hot water and furnace.....

First had them replace my furnace in 2010 was a great install had zero issues through Home Depot. Did not phone around my other furnace was fine but very old just deceided needed new. Good so far.

Just over a year ago our water heater went and flooded again tired of this water tank crap. We deceided to go tankless this time called local in Fort Saskatchewan any where from $10,000 to $6,000 between three companies made me sick. Called Home Depot they used Friesen I said I'm in since they did a awesome job on furnace. Cost was just over $3500 need I say more install was quick and zero issues.

For me I have had good luck and good install on two items..........I can live with that. If anything changes I will update...........

AC installation

Nothing but trouble from the start! Sales person wouldn't sell us the Trane AC unit through Home Depot because he couldn't price match. Had to purchase directly through Friesen's. Took over 4 weeks to have the unit running after initial install visit. Installer mounted the AC unit in the wrong location on the house leaving a 4'' hole which they wouldn't fix. Next to impossible to get the manager out to show the issues. He didn't take any responsibility and blamed me (home owner).

Install a 50 gallon hot water heater, from Home Depot

I would never recommend the Edmonton location to install any thing. The installer was very rude, mad, upset and made a mess. My wife was so upset I had to come home from work to deal with him. We just wanted to move the tank 3 inches further away from the furnace so we could access the furnace filter. He did it once I said I would pay. Only to find out it was included in the basic installation fee I paid Home Depot. He never gave us any paper work on the unit. When I got home I stayed on hold forever to complain to Home Depot. Never again will I use either company.

AC Installation

We had a Trane AC installed June 23 by Friesen’s June 24 as per the Friesen salesman’s recommendations, to complement our Trane heating system. The house and furnace are less than four years old. Unfortunately, within hours, the system kept cutting out. Freezing up, we discovered, at the compressor and inside the furnace coils. The installer returned the next day to try to “rectify” the issue. Again, within hours after him leaving, the system froze up again. After a couple of calls to the service coordinator, their serviceman couldn’t come out Friday – too busy, could we wait until Monday? Oh sure, it’s only 32C during the day over the weekend. So, Monday the 29th, he arrives, checks, re-checks and tests the AC compressor, air flow, temperature, etc. At one time, there were three servicemen here. Still, not working longer than a few hours before freezing up. “Air flow problems”, they said. They recommended enlarging the filter capacity area and the return air duct. The earliest they could come back was the 15th of July. July 15th comes and they call me and the serviceman can’t make it. After at least a half dozen calls to the service coordinator, leaving messages for the manager, no calls returned. We finally had to call the company who originally installed the furnace on the new build. They came out within an hour. They also checked and re-checked the install, the compressor, the furnace. No luck. Froze up a few hours later. As Friesen’s manager or servicemen would not return calls after more messages left with the office, we had the other company come and do the work Friesen’s recommended: enlarge the filter capacity and the return air duct. Again. Still. Not. Working.
I’ve left several voicemails with the manager, messages with the service coordinator and still nothing. It is now July 23. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Friesen’s. Poor communication, poor customer service. Absolutely frustrating!! Over $5000 paid for what?

Hot water tank install

The technician (Darren) called to confirm his arrival time, which was good. He seemed to think I would be impressed with how fast he could remove/install a new tank. He estimated 30 minutes. Speed doesn't impress me, a good job does though. I asked him to put the drip pan under the new one and set it close by. He was quick to have it installed and asked me to sign the paperwork and rate him on his performance, so I said I should at least look at his work first. Good thing, he'd forgotten to put the drip pan under it. So he had to completely drain the new tank and disconnect lines to do that. I mentioned that I could see his emphasis was on hurrying and that as an equipment technician myself, found that hurrying doesn't always pay off, he apologized and added that it wasn't the end of the world. So he did get the pan under it, and again wanted me to immediately rate him on his paperwork from 1-10. I gave him 8 and he seemed offended by not getting 10, which he didn't deserve. Didn't invite me to check it first, more interested in just rating him. On my job, we let customers rate us by leaving a card, and do it whenever they want. He had a sarcastic comment as he left which confirmed that while he might do 7 installs a day as he said, there was still room for improvement in customer relations/doing it correctly the first time. From a technical standpoint, I could easily have done this myself (it isn't rocket science) but hauling the old one upstairs and to the dump wasn't worth the hassle. I would not hurry to get him back but other technicians there are maybe just fine. He cleaned up after himself okay, just needs a bit of attitude readjustment. This was installed through Home Depot purchase.

Air Condition install

Had A/C Installed early 2012. The installation staff are hit and miss here. Some of the good ones either left or talked (in front of the customer) that they were leaving. They had hooked the wrong AC unit to the wrong furnace and had to come back to switch - and had to invent a way for pipes to make the lenght to get to proper furnace. City inspection failed their first attempt and the inspector told me I should be ashamed that I paid for this work as it was an absolute mess on the side of the house. On third visit they fixed what they could and left with more holes in our siding. Citty's second inspection passed just "to code" but inspector said they still left me with a mess. Not the easiest company to deal with, except for a couple of employees on service team, but not sure they are there anymore.

New Furnace

We purchased our new furnace with all the add ons including the Trane Comfortlink thermostat and the expensive filter. We had nothing but problems. First off they put screws threw our hardwood floor from the basement, still not fixed after 5 months! Then the furnace kept cutting out. It has taken close to 5 months to get it sorted out, including getting a new thermostat and motherboard for a brand new furnace. The only one who was helpful and knowledgable was Brian in the service dept. He is the only one who went out of his way to fix the problem.
