2 windows and patio door replacement
Looking for a way to minimize the heat loss on the second floor of our house, we decided to go with Ontario Choice and change our 20-ish year old windows in our own and our 3-year old daughter's bedrooms. We ordered a double-side opening (sliding) window for our room and a single-sided one, opening on the LEFT hand side. I specifically asked the salesman to show me how he indicated that left hand side on his order. He showed me a big arrow and assured me that everything was going to be OK, and once again pointed out how energy-efficient those new windows manifactured in Window City were.
The contracted installers were diligent and professional. They worked quickly and picked up everything left after them. However, it was quite a suprise for me when they put up a right-hand side slide-opening window in our daughter's bedroom. "This is what they ordered for you and we have nothing else in our truck" - they explained to me...
It was also quite surprising after to find out that putting my hand against the window I could feel the heat (or cold) coming from the outside to a stronger degree compared to my old aluminum framed windows. The real shock came on a windy day. Putting my hand alongside the top OR bottom frame I could (and still can) feel a STRONG draft of outside air. It even moves my curtains! I cannot believe that windows manifactured in Canada in 2010 can be that energy-inefficient! I am sorry that we wasted our money and would not recommend Ontario Choice or Window City.
