Weed Man

I WOULD ADVISE AGAINST USING THIS COMPANY We noted early in the summer of 2021 we had some weeds in our lawn and we wanted them gone, so we started getting quotes. Weed man was one of the companies we contacted. Talking about weed like behaviour, once we expressed any interest whatsoever in their service, they started pounding us, barraging us, haranguing us with calls attempting to commit us to the service. It was unpleasant and pushy. We decided to go with another service, who were pleasant efficient and better reviewed. But, here is where Weedman gets sketchy. They started calling my wife and sending her emails containing schedules and even invoices for work that was never authorised and never completed. They would say, we are coming today to do this or that. We would reply saying we had gone with another service. One afternoon I was in my home office and saw a head walk by my window, I looked out and saw a Weedman truck in my driveway and a weed minion pushing his little fertilizer across my lawn. I went out and told him firmly. I am not paying for that. I had to repeat it a few times before it seemed to get through. What I didn’t realise until later is he had been into my backyard and left my gate open and unlatched. (I have video cameras on my property.) Later that night I let my dog out into my backyard who immediately slipped out the open gate and disappeared. After a frantic search we got him back. I went back and grilled my family about who would be irresponsible enough to leave the gate open and learned that Weedman had gone and opened the gate. Then left it. There are a number of issues here, Number 1. He allowed my dog out, Number two he came into my property without permission and potentially sprayed poison or whatever he was administering that day on my lawn causing issues for my dog. They continue to set up appointments and send invoices even now. We have followed up numerous times but get the runaround with their support saying we are not customers so they have no record of us but the invoices and schedules continue to arrive. I think it is because they are independent operators who own the franchises. However it is like a wild west free for all with them. Bottom line. We are now documenting and recording all our interactions regarding WEEDMAN Do NOT use Weedman.

I hired the Weed man to take care of a new lawn and it turned into a major problem. It was problem enough that the lower mainland manager dropped by and totally agreed. He was totally professional and admitted that the employee on the route was not applying the sprays and many lawns had had problems. They adjusted the bill but at the end of contract I decided not to renew. Left two messages and told a employees that showed up I did not need services. He replied to call the office otherwise they come back. Well no return phone call and no more employees returning but apparently I am responsible for two treatments I never ordered and the bill has been sent to collection. I wish them luck. Stay away

I do not recommend this company. Poor results with weed control. The person that sprayed left the side gate open and our dog escaped. I cancelled service and they are constantly bothering me with phone calls even though I have asked to be removed from the calling list.

Not only were the spring treatments (moss and weed) much too late to be much use, there were continual bills left by the tech, even though I had already paid for the whole year up front. Then the calls came to schedule services each saying the cost of the service. The problem was that some of these services were included in the up-front fee, others were up-sales. When I was on my toes, I would quiz the caller to make sure these were already paid for services, but one day a smooth talking sales person got me to say yes to a service because I thought is was already part of the paid for package. Months later, when I called to cancel the service for next year (because the lawn care is mediocre, and the sales calls are annoying), I discovered that I owed $482.78, and they had the recorded conversation in which is said "yes". I get it. My fault. I was confused and taken advantage of. I should have been less trusting: Caveat Emptor. But any company that uses such tactics should be avoided.

I used this company a few years ago. I think weed man means that they bring you as many weeds as they can. After two seasons of using them, my yard had so many weeds that I ended up digging it up and starting from scratch with new sod. Now it looks great. I am wanting to get a lawn care professional that will actually prevent weeds, but do not know who to trust. WIll definitely not use weed man ever again, partly because of the crappy job they did, and also because you cannot get rid of them, as they phone you, harass you, mail you letters and bills that just never end.

I signed up for a one year service package. The applications never got rid of even half the weeds, moss, etc. I had to continually call them back for reapplications. Always frustrated with the results. Continued to use them for a few more months with the same poor results and finally told them to stop their services. They kept coming and billing me! I had to tell them that not only I don't want their service, they are not allowed on my property! They kept coming! When I called they said that those instructions were not in their system, they did not receive those instructions, etc. Now they hound me with a collection agency and I am considering legal action. Stay away from Weedman!

Was looking for moss control for lawn and was told it was only possible with package deal I could cancel once moss treatment complete.
When they first came, snow was still covering 50% of lawn. Wanted to treat visible portion and treat the snow covered portion later. I refused and they came back in two weeks and did the entire area. Were onsite about 10 minutes. I have a large lawn and lots of moss.

I noticed moss in some areas turn black, but others not killed. Clear lines where moss killed vs healthy in a large patch. Clearly only about 40% of moss treated. Called them and complained and they came back without charge and treated again.

Second round got about half of what was untreated on Round one. Called and complained again. Wanted to come back again. I told them no. I had seen enough of their shoddy work.

Would not recommend (even to an enemy).

A rep came through our neighbourhood, my husband invited him in. He took measurements and gave us a price for fertilizing and weed control for the year. After the first year it seemed like we had more weeds, but my husband said we need to give them some more time. Second year we have more weeds than before, after calling and complaining they said they would send out a supervisor, nobody showed. Confronted the technician the next time he came by about weed control, he tells me he can't put it on in the dry weather. I ask why and he says it's not good for the plants, I tell him they are weeds I don't care about their health. Call and complain again, this time a supervisor comes out and says yes you need weed control. I say I've paid for it and where is the guarantee. He says they will send somebody out in a couple of days and do weed control again. They finally show up 2 weeks later and the guy spends 10 minutes in my yard and leaves a bill in my door. I call up and say I am not paying for this, they argue but finally agree to cancel the charge. The guy missed over half of the weeds, including down the side of my house which was included in our original price. Next time he showed up I was home and demanded another weed control, advised him I would not pay for it and walked him around to show him every weed, he sprays them but refuses to do down the side of my house, which has grass because he says it's not included. I phone and complain, they send someone else out who again says the side of the house is not included, I show him my original contract which does include it, he does down the side of the house. The next year same thing, they're not applying weed control, I have more weeds than lawn. Phone repeatedly and complain, they finally send out a supervisor who again agrees that we need more weed control, nobody ever shows up. I cancelled the service. I locked my gate so they could not get in the back yard, they call to say their technician couldn't do my lawn care cause my gate was locked, I say yes because I cancelled your services. They tell me they are going to charge me for the visit, I tell them, I will not pay it I cancelled the services by phone and email, and I have confirmation that acknowledged my cancellation and if they send somebody to my property again I will have them arrested for trespassing. Then it's six months of phone calls of them trying to get me to take their services. I finally told them I was going to take them to court for fraud because they didn't live up to their guarantee. The phone calls finally stopped. Every person in my neighbourhood that started their services has quit because they don't do what they promise and it keeps costing you more and more money.

Surrey Weedman is charging us for unauthorized service. They claim that they have an audio recording of telephone authorization, but have not been able to provide this. Mostly likely because it does not exist. They lack ethics and customer service.

Weed Man has looked after our lawn for over 5 years and we have watched it go downhill! They bring weeds on their equipment from other jobs. They call weekly about adding other expensive services they swear will fix the problem.
But .... Don't use Weedman!
