Drywall work

I hired this company by recommendation from a neighbor. Believing they will do a good job as they promised, I soon noticed that they were cutting corners on material and buying the cheapest home articles/products on the market. The manager Peter would even ridicule me if I had a request, to wire a doorbell for example. My design of my home somehow was somehow getting in their way and was bothering them. After they dry walled the front of the house I had to call in another company, a reputable one, to repair their work. I had wind blowing through my baseboards in the wintertime. and there was also an electrical outlet hidden under the dry wall which is a hazard - it is not code in building. I still have many gaps which they did not complete. In the middle of my ceiling there's a step. They did't level the ceiling properly. They ripped my bathroom apart and never finished it. Broke my pedestal sink and didn't pay for it. They are so non-professional they started cutting my joists in the basement. That is something you can NOT DO!
During the entire time of my renovation they haven't shown me not one licence, nor for the plumber nor for the electrician. They should have gotten a permit for the reno. I asked if we need one, the manager Peter said "No".
They did a very lousy job. He interrogated me for money when I was alone in my home. I told Peter that this is harassment. He laughed.
From my point of view Wedgewood doesn't care for quality, all they care is to get your money.
Now I have to hire someone else to fix the mess.

Roof - Shingle Replacement

In Oct 2004, Wedgewood replaced our shingles and they were responsive (gave us a quote quickly, started the job when promised), finished the job on time, and cleaned up well at the end of the job. They told us that no wood needed to be replaced.
However, in Aug 2011 (7 years later) our roof leaked and water dripped into one of the bedrooms. Thankfully, Wedgewood agreed to cover the cost of the re-shingling for the one side of the roof that leaked. But we then found out that some of the wood needed repairing, repairs were needed to the other side of the roof, and that tar paper had not originally been put down between the shingles and the wood (apparently, the Building Code does not require tar paper).
So we have had some good experiences with Wedgewood, but it's hard to be pleased when your roof leaks 7 years after re-shingling and ends up needing repairs.

Front Outside Trim, Porch Ceiling, and Roof

Wedgewood Home Improvements, Apr 14, 2011: Wedgewood replaced the shingle roof in the front of the house, including the porch roof, the wood trim on soffit and facia on the front porch, and installed a new ceiling in the porch. The work included priming and painting the new wood, and also included replacing the eaves troughs and down pipe.

The work was performed efficiently, quickly and professionally. I am very happy with the quality, and am planning to use WedgeWood again later in the summer. It was a pleasure to deal with Don who coordinates all the work.

Once again, excellent work by the Wedgewood team!

Replace roof shingles & eavestrough

Wedgewood was recommended to me and I hired them to replace shingles on the roof for my extension at back of house. The estimate of $2,500 seemed very high, much higher than I'd paid before, but I trusted that they would do an exceptional job. First problem was when they asked if they could trim back a few cedar branches...but they hacked them off, very hamphazard, and threw them in my backyard behind my shed without telling me. I had not way to cut up the huge limbs they hacked off and they would not come back and deal with it.

Worse though, when they started hammering, very loudly and hard, my stucco ceiling started to come down. I ran out and asked them to stop but they said they had to hammer that hard and not to worry, if there was any inside damage caused by their work, the owner of Wedgewood would fix it. When I reported this to the owner, it took two weeks for him to even come over and see it, and then he started pulling down more of the stucco, making a much bigger mess. Then said he couldn't do anything about it for at least three to four months!! i ended up having to hire someone else again to fix this problem.

I should have stopped payment on my cheque to resolve this situation and sorry I didn't. He could have made this right but chose not to, so I have nothing good to say - only bad - to anyone now who asks me for a roofer or contractor recommendation.

Replace Roof and Eavestroughs

Wedgewood Home Improvements, Aug 5, 2009: Wedgewood replaced an old tar and gravel flat roof in the back of my house, as well as three eavestroughs and the connecting downspouts (also located in the back). The house is an old row house with no laneway access. The pieces of old roof had to be carried over the top of the house and deposited into a bin in my front driveway. This was a very dusty dirty job. I was impressed with the care with which the task was undertaken.

I was also impressed with the speed and efficiency with which the job was completed, and with the overall professionalism displayed by the crew. They were polite, pleasant, and all business. It was a pleasure to deal with Don who coordinates all the work. I love my new roof!

I have used Wedgewood on two previous occasions. They replaced the siding in the back of the house and replaced the porch roof. This was about two years ago and I was also very happy with the results. The cost may be a bit higher than what others quote, but not much. And the quality is worth it. Excellent work by the Wedgewood team! I will be using them again.

Flat Roofing

As naiive home owners after first buying our house, we hired Wedgewood to replace a small section of roofing that needed to be done right away.

He didn't install it properly, didn't use the right configuration of product, and after 3 years we had to replace it all again. He also charged about 50% more than he should have.

He would not call us back and completely ignored us.

A total disaster.

waterproofing

We have been trying to reach Wedgewood home improvements to rectify the water that persists for over 2 years and we kept getting the run around that they could not find the invoice and that the business has been sold. Although they were paid in full the problem of water has never been rectified.

extensive drywalling upstairs, painting, and some

The quality of the interior work was poor and full of miscalculations. My bedroom ceiling is now lower than the tops of my windows. The process was extremely argumentative with the actual crew. Their exterior work, soffit, fascia and eves I had redone by another.

Front porch - repair concrete and coat

Repaired front concrete porch and steps and coated. Coating pealed off in one year in places due to poor preparation of surface. They repaired it once but problem persists. They tried to do afterhours side deal, and then never returned calls.
