They charge first for a diagnosis - comes out to approx. $100 with tax. I had already told them on the phone what the problem is, what the appliance is, model and serial number and the part we probably need. The Miele dishwasher says F12 intake and it is most commonly the main intake valve that goes. They don't come with any parts ready to do a repair, because they deal with all different brands and 'are not sure exactly the problem is', even though it is most commonly the main intake valve that goes. The 'diagnostician' didn't really do much of a check of the dishwasher and didn't try to clean anything out to see if that would fix the problem. The $100 diagnosis fee does not go toward any repair. So they come out for a 'diagnosis', you pay for that, then you get the estimate for the repair. They get back to you with an estimate in a day or two and you have to wait another period of time until they get the part in. Their estimate for labour was high and the part was 3x what Miele charges customers for the same part. So I cancelled the repair and went with Miele. Lost the $100 - paid for nothing. They would not give me my money back, of course.
(I didn't go with Miele at first because they don't answer their phone and took a week to get back to me. Not a great way to do business. But once they did call me back, their quote for repair was much more favourable.)
