Thermo Building Products-No Longer in Business

A representative of Thermo Building Products came to my parents' home one day last October and talked them into signing a contract to have some safety railings installed inside and outside the home. The contract was for a total of $5,000 and the rep took a cheque from my parents for a down payment of $1,100. This sales call was absolutely unsolicited, and my parents are both in their eighties and suffering from dementia. Two or three days later, my father had a change of heart and called the company to cancel the job and request a reimbursement of their down payment. After many phone calls over the past three months, I've be given nothing but excuses and broken promises. My parents live on a fixed income and still have not had their $1,100 returned to them. When I called the Toronto Police Fraud Squad to report this matter, the detective who took my call told me his computer records indicate that at least one similar complaint has been filed against this company in the past. Stay away from Thermo Building Products!

they were nice at first before signing but once job started they didn't do the job properly. and later I found out they measure 10ft more than actual length
and leave my backyard messy. they promised to come back to take care of it but never came back. I left a message more than 20 times.

I am new relatively in Canada, it was my first home , on Patricia(Bathurst / Finch area)It was my first renovation experience. The price little high,($200) but it worth it. Thermo was on time, very progessional,polite, offering extra help if needed) even I got extra job without pay for unexpected wall repairs.Job was done 2 years ago, I do not have any more water in my basement anymore. Thanks Thermo,Thanks Canada for good , reliable service.

I recently had my bathroom reno done by Thermo Building Products. After reading the posted reviews I felt I should write to say it has been a positive experience. The work was started on time. The contractor was easy to have in my home, was neat and tidy and the process was explained every step of the way. He was also extremely good at guiding me in decisions along the way. The quality of the work I feel was top notch. Several times a rep from the company was here to check on the job, answer questions and to ensure I was happy with the work being done.
I would not have a problem recommending this company.

This was our second renovation. The first was with another company, but we chose to try Thermo based on price and the 'service' that was promised. The service aspect of this general contractor turned out to be 'zero'. The guy who sold us the job apparently took his commission and ran. We were left with the owner who came to us twice, both times to 'inspect' and of course, collect. My husband essentially took over the job. The good part was that Thermo, for the most part, offered decent trades people (once we got to the 3rd electrician the 2nd one wrecked our upstairs carpet in 5 distinct spots when he was working on the 1st floor lighting) who were mostly available when we booked them. (So the 4 stars for timeliness is due in part to us running our own tight schedule.) We did wait for a bricklayer for 5 weeks. We are still not sure he exists, so we outsourced the job elsewhere and took it off the contract. The experience was valuable as we now have the confidence to do our own contracting in future. While we would call on one or two trades we met through Thermo, we will never call on Thermo again. You definitely get what you pay for.

The work included expensive stones for a walkway place on concrete, and landscaping around the walkway. The work was much later than promised and when we complained we got a rude reception. The workers at the site were good to deal with when they showed up, but they seemed to be at other jobs all the time. The office was poor to deal with. We cannot recommend this company.

The project is over one year late. The quality of some portions is good. The quality of other portions is poor. They have made promises both verbally in writing about when the work will be completed, but then it just doesn't happen.
