We had students come to the door earlier this year and ask if we needed anything painting. We agreed to let them come and paint our front door, and the porch area inside and out. The exterior door paint had been flaking and had holes, dings and scratches and would look much nicer filled in. We assumed when they said they would prep the area for painting that it meant filling in the holes, etc. The estimate seemed high but we decide to help out some students and let them do the job that needed to be done. It is a fiddly job so were willing to pay someone.
Well these 2 guys arrived and worked for 1 day, and it wasn't til after they left I realized they had only sanded off old paint then slapped on new paint on top of the holes, dings, scratches, etc. They left my external stairs in a mess and I had to wash them well from the sanded paint flakes, etc. I did complain to the manager and he apologized that expectations were not met but showed me that the quote did not include filling in holes. Be very clear about what your expectations are. If I knew they would just sand and paint I would have done that myself and saved myself the $. I would not use them again.
