It's sad that a long standing local company has deteriorated so much.
We ordered a "100% made by local Mennonite craftsmen" solid wood dining suite in July 2013. It was delivered late due to various flaws. When we did get it, it was the wrong colour (I know all about variations in stain colour on wood and it isn't that).
All of the chairs had bolts protruding into the seat so that if you sat on it you would be injured. The backs of the chairs were warped (ripple effect). The table was crooked and the server had filler and various blemishes.
It all went back. We were told that the wrong bolts were used on the chairs. We were also told that many of the numerous defects were due to the wrong router or worn router being used. The rest was basically replacing some parts and resanding.
We decided to live with the wrong colour.
This set went back and forth several times. The table now has clearly visible sanding patterns like a hand sander was used to go back and forth, back and forth across the entire table. The middle part of the table has been almost hollowed out. If you put a straight edge on the table, you will see that the middle of the table is sanded down almost 1/3 of an inch more than the edges. It has a visibly concave shape whereas it should be perfectly flat.
Excuse after excuse, delay after delay. The owners son clearly identified the issue: we got a lemon and it should be replaced.
However, the owner is basically being confrontational saying that we haven't given him enough chances to fix it. We wanted our money back or a new set. The owner basically hung up on us.
It's a shame to see what has become of a good company. Perhaps you will be lucky and get everything right from the manufacturer. But if there is an issue, dont expect these guys to do anything to help you.
When you are investing this kind of money, there are many many other choices locally. We strongly recommend that you consider any of them over this one. Why take the risk?
