Install damaged our home

The install of the alarm system has left us with upwards of $5,000 in damages and labor costs and the company is offering us 3 years free service and a $1,000 chq. We want the system removed and damages restored to the original state! This company does not deserve 5 stars!

Approximate cost of services:
$5,000.00

Company Response

Safe Tech Alarm Systems has installed over 15, 000 alarm systems from coast-to-coast, and a majority of our installations are in homes. We take great pride in our work, and are meticulous in how we approach each and every installation that we perform. In an effort to hide wires that run to alarm devices, we run cables behind the drywall, requiring our technicians to drill into walls leaving sometimes unavoidable holes. Our technicians usually will explain the entire procedure and get permission prior to starting any work. In this case, our Edmonton installers who did the work made a few small holes and immediately offered to repair the damage caused by his installation. They were told by the homeowner not to worry about it, as they were soon going to renovate.Shortly thereafter, this homeowner complained to Safe Tech’s service department about damages sustained to their home during our visit (some of which were in no way associated with our installation). The homeowner refused to allow the original installer to return. Safe Tech responded positively to their concerns and sent in six different contractors and tradesmen to assess the damage, and accurately determine all repairs. Based on their collective input Safe Tech determined that the costs involved to repair our installers’ drill holes, and additional damage claimed by the client, to be less than $1000.00. Safe Tech offered the homeowner a financial settlement of over $2000.00 which was declined. In an effort to make things right, and with the homeowner’s approval we offered to send in a professional painter and dry wall expert to fix and newly paint entire walls. The work was completed July 19th, 2013. In addition, Safe Tech has given this homeowner several months of free monitoring. We believe that we have shown good faith at every turn and have addressed any and all outstanding issues resulting from our installation. We are sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused and are confident that this homeowner has been made whole.
