I moved to a new house 3 years ago and priced things out on how best to replace my existing not working key-bad with a new system. The sales person there suggested I sign a 3 year contract at $30/month and they will install a system for me with a single key-pad then I agreed to pay for an extra keypad to place on my second door. At this time I was also reviewing other companies for much cheaper but I thought 3 year contract would pay for the system itself and the install.
My 3 year is coming to an end so I gave them my 60 day notice to cancel. I recieved a call by the original salesperson indicating that he is willing to give me an offer if I sign a new contract or give them the equipment back. After 3 years to hear that I paid an inflated $30 a month while others charging $10 for the same service really upset me and thought this was a really bad business practice.
I refuse to renew and wait for their department to come after me for what they claim is their equipment. I will take this with BBB as it's upsetting after all these years while I could have paid upfront or monitored my own through simple do-it-yourself alarms from Costco.
Stay away and google alarm services to see for yourself the rates !!!!!
******This is the email I got after paying $1500 over 3 years that included inflated monthly charge, initial install charge and other upsell items at my door. nothing indicates equipment are rental
Hi XXX,
Please note that you are required to return the equipment installed by SafeTech. Following are the options:
- You can remove it and mail it to us on the following address under my name.
- We can send our technician to remove the system and that will cost $90+ tax.
- You can retain the equipment by paying $250.00.
Let me know which option suits you.
Best Regards,
