Kitchen Installation

If you've chosen PEG for your kitchen installation, you've likely purchased an Ikea kitchen. Firstly, although Ikea kitchens aren't necessarily of the absolute highest quality, given what you actually pay for them, especially during one of their kitchen events, they are actually a pretty good deal for what you are getting. But beware - this is where the good times end. If you are looking to pay PEG to install your kitchen, you will likely spend upwards of 50% of what the actual kitchen cost you just on the installation itself. PEG's service are grossly overpriced compared to having a private contractor (who is specialized in Ikea kicthens) install it for you. With what you pay for the kitchen and then for the installation, you're actually in the ballpark for a lower-end custom kitchen. I paid $2700 for 2 1/2 days of work, while the kitchen itself only cost me $4500 (not incl counter) after the discounts from the kitchen event were applied. Furthermore, (to PEG's credit, not their fault), I need to spend an additional $800 or so to have a finish cabinetry company come in to manufacture and install some finish trim work that is not available via Ikea. So in total I'm looking at approx an $8000 cost. I could probably toss in another $2-3k and have a pretty decent custom kitchen. All in all, I found their installation work to be satisfactory at best, but nothing over the top. The jobsite was left messy each night, while the installer insisted on cutting inside the house, creating an absolute dust disaster. My advice would be one of two things: one - if you insist on going with an Ikea kitchen, seek out a private contractor via a local web search - you're likely to find someone who can do it for significantly lower than PEG. Two, if you would only trust PEG because they come recommended from Ikea, seek out quotes from custom manufacturerers. You will be surprised to find out that custom kitchens, utilizing the same material that Ikea uses, actually don't cost that much more for supply and install. Furthermore, they will be custom tailored for your space and will come with way more design options. The moral of the story: PEG is overpriced and make Ikea kitchens far more expensive overall than what you would originally think.

Approximate cost of services:
$2,500.00

Company Response

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about our company. It is apparent that you did not have a satisfactory experience with PEG and for that we sincerely apologize. While we typically do any cutting right on site, unless the client has requested otherwise, our installers are instructed to clean up the job sites at the end of each day. In this case, it is apparent that this did not happen so we will be reviewing customer service guidelines and installation processes with all of our installation technicians. Clients are encouraged to get multiple quotes when doing major renovation projects (the cheapest is not always the best) but keep in mind that you want to work with an installer that you will be comfortable with, as well as one that is experienced, licensed and appropriately insured. . As for the cost of PEG’s services, we have been in business for over twenty years, are an IKEA Certified Kitchen Installer, Licensed Renovator and a member of the Toronto Construction Association as well as insured by RSA, covered by WSIB, and require police reference certificates from our team members. Ultimately, the choice is yours whether you use our services or not.
