We recently contracted PEG to do the demolition of our old kitchen and installation of IKEA cabinet. I would highly recommend their installation team as they did an excellent job on the installation, protecting the homeowner’s assets (by covering any work areas with cardboard) and working with the customer to help them meet what they envision for the kitchen space. They were friendly and courteous showing up read to work each day they were in but also staying a little later than planned when they could.
I would however not recommend using PEG for the demolition part of the job. I would rather suggest that you either do it yourself or have someone else hired for this task. We were very concerned when the demo team was done on the 1st day. Right off the bat they failed to protect the kitchen before or during the work, dropping plaster onto our tiled floor and oven which we are still scrubbing to try to get it removed. They also walked dust and debris over our hardwood floors leading in and out of our house. They did try to sweep up when they finished up but left piles of debris in corners and swept dirt into the space between the floor and wall which ended up all over our basement laundry room. We spent a couple hours after they left cleaning up after the demo team. Next in our contract with PEG we had worked out to have the walls behind all the cabinets dry-walled to a smooth finish and we would supply the materials. The guys doing the demo said that because our original walls were plaster it would be easier to save as much as possible of the walls and fix up any areas that needed it, otherwise a separate team would have had to come in to install the drywall. I told them that since we had already bought the materials we wanted the drywall done. When they called us over to say the walls were completed they had not followed what was in the contract or my instructions and had instead done a patch job on our existing plaster walls that was not done to a smooth finish and there were holes in the walls that were not even patched. I mentioned this to their team and they said they had run out of compound and would not be able to finish the walls that day. I provided them with a new container of compound I had bought for the job and said they could now finish the job that day. I left to go to work myself and later heard from my wife how they did not fill all of the holes pointed out to them but just put drywall tape over them and the walls were left very uneven (we had to level off the walls ourselves before doing our backsplash). She then mentioned how they had started to pack up to leave and took the full container of compound I had given them to use for my home. She had to make them return it since they had not used it and it was not theirs to take. Lastly PEG had a person specially coming in to shut off our gas stove safely. The demo team disconnected our stove themselves and did not cap the line properly before the proper person showed up. This was a major safety issue as when the person for the gas showed he had to redo the shut off properly, capping the line and then proceeded to call either PEG or the demo team (we were not sure which) to complain himself about how careless this was.
If we were to rate the installation team alone then PEG would get a 9.5/10 but due to the shabby efforts of the demo team we cannot in good conscience rate the overall experience as anything greater than 6/10.
