Here's the exact timeline of my experience:
At about 2:00pm on December 28th, I put out a Homestars request to New Canadian.
At 3:29pm they responded by phone, they asked me about my problem and offered to send someone to check things in the next hour. They did not charge me a fee for this (another company want $200 just to show up).
At 4:30pm, Volodymyr arrived. He inspected things for about 45 minutes, ran some tests, and gave us the bad news succinctly. He gave us a rough quote, but made it clear that the office would contact us in the morning with the complete one. (It was late by then, I didn't expect the work done same day.)
At 8:30am the next day, the office called. They gave a clear quote that was right in the same ballpark as Volodymyr had given us. I said yes, and they said that the plumber would be there in an hour.
An hour later, he arrived. He worked diligently for several hours, called me in to discuss the various issues that he discovered during the process, talked to me before doing anything extra, and completed the work and was gone by 2pm, December 29th.
That's pretty darned good service, if you ask me. And during the holidays no less. Volodymyr also explained the future problems we might have that he couldn't solve right then and there. He was competent, genuine, and clear.
I don't know anything about the price, maybe I should have asked around for more quotes, maybe it's a totally fair price (the approx. cost is after tax). It seemed reasonable for the work, in my mind. It was definitely worth it to me, to have the whole thing resolved in about 24 hours from the first reach out, during what I imagine is a busy period. That was amazing.
These folks run a tight ship. They'll be my first call any plumbing emergency I have.
